2025 equinox ev- OnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable
I recently bought equinox ev 2025. In 5th month of use, telematics system stopped working. Dealership mentioned that part is nationwide back ordered with no estimated date. And i saw on many portals where same issue has raised by many car owners. Is this normal to have this part back ordered with no estimated date. And if GM knows the problem with this part, why are they selling such cars. Is there a way to raise this concern with any federal department?

I am just starting to have this issue - this is kind of scaring me. I bought my 2025 Equinox Activ back in March and two weeks ago this issue has started to happen, but it is connecting maybe after a couple of hours into the day. I had it in the shop yesterday (10/16) and said it was a system update that needed and they did that, and when I got in the car it connected to everything right away - got in it this morning to go to work and I get Cannot Connect to Onstar, which in turns not allow me to connect to Wi-fi and throwing the Nav off. Is this what I have to look forward to in getting this repaired? Part of me wants to cancel my service. This is just not acceptable in a 2025 vehicle. Why is this part on back order? Why has a Recall not been declared? Is the current Tarrif's causing the module to be on backorder? I have had Chevy's for the last 17 years (used to be a Ford person) and I would much rather have a Chevy but I would trade the car in a second if I have to start dealing with these issues.

This isn't the experience we hoped for you to have with your new Equinox. We know how vital it is to stay connected on the road, and we realize that repairs that involve part delays can be stressful. You did the right thing by bringing this concern to the attention of your dealership, and our team is glad to connect with them to offer further support. If it interests you to have our assistance through this process with your vehicle, feel free to private message OnStar_Support with additional details. Just select the envelope icon at the top right of your screen to get started.

This is not the experience I was hoping to have with my new Equinox either. How about you buy it back?

Has anyone thought that these modules are not made here? I suspect that they may be coming from China. This whole situation might be caused by our current trade situation with China and that may not be resolved anytime soon. Some of this delay may be GM trying to find another source.
I just wish they would tell us exactly what the hold up is.

This module is a defect and definitely a SAFETY issue. The telematics module has the potential of draining the battery completely which can cause the car to shut off MID DRIVE. I know because it happened to me TWICE.
I have reported the safety issue to the NHTSA
https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#/vehicle
I have also reported this to the Federal Trade Commission because it is fraudulent practice to advise consumers that these vehicles are still safe to drive.

Many of us have contacted GM DIRECTLY to file a complaint at
We have also contacted a Class Action Lawyer based out of Philadelphia that has gone up against GM before. Speak with Michelle
UPDATE: GM called me back to discuss this issue twice and they are trying to contact the dealership for payment assistance options.

This is currently happening to me! I had to have my 2025 Enclave jump started twice this weekend! They said there a backorder for the module necessary to repair the vehicle.

Just got a call from dealership. They said my issue is the gps antenna. Which is also on back order with no eta date

You are not alone. I have Chevy Exquiox 2025 purchased in December and 6 months in the Telemaric Modular caused a parasite drain on my battery 3 times and finally on my second visit to service they disclosed the issue and no part available no eta.

Unfortunately, my 2025 Yukon Denali keeps giving me nothing but problems.
My truck has been without an OnStar service for 20 days because of DEFECTIVE Telematics module and unfortunately the dealer can only provide the Backorder with no ETA for modules to become available.
This means no OnStar, Super Cruise, Wi-Fi, Entertainment System and a BIG Check Engine light !!!
GMC needs to step up and provide the parts and service to the customers, this is a not a dealer problem, this is a known quality repetitive issue that must be resolved Immediately.

We are in the same position as you. Have you received the module yet? Ours has been in the shop about three weeks, with no ETA.

Have mine in shop currently for same issue. No connection to app, no navigation, speed limit on dash not working , and no onstar connection. Is this considered a safety issue and are there other issue that may occur with this problem ?

We do regret to hear of any concerns with your new vehicle. To clarify, is your Equinox currently located at your certified Chevrolet dealership? They are in the best position to provide you with any available updates on parts. While our social care team does not have the ability to expedite parts, we can provide you with an additional layer of support throughout the repair process. We will keep an eye out for your reply in the meantime.

Helen how about GM Chevrolet just be honest fix the issue and no excuse. This is legal issue in the making as it seems to a national problem. Do you want fo know other countries aren't buying US vehicles because they have gone back to being not reliable. Poor technology and horrible service. Lemon Law is real!!!!

Excuses Excuses GM should do better vetting and diligence when they sign deals with onstar.
