OnStar Module Failure
I, like apparently 1,000's of others have had my OnStar module fail. I took my purchased new, regularly dealer serviced 2023 GMC Yukon Denali in for a simple oil change and tire rotation as usual at the 45,000 mile mark. While I was returning home, I found I had no navigation, WiFi, voice activation, phone start, etc. After contacting OnStar support, they told me it seemed to be a hardware failure. The speed with which they were able to diagnose this over the phone led me to believe this was a common thing. Based on this message board, it seems so common that it's hard to believe that a recall hasn't been issued. This is blatantly bad part. I've also since learned after returning to the dealership that I'm on the hook for $800+ in repairs with no idea when the part will be available. Now, I've got a nearly $100k truck that doesn't do half of the things I paid for. This is a ridiculous issue that GM & OnStar need to correct. How can there be 1,000's of people out there with the same issue and no desire by the manufacturer to make amends or at least have the parts readily available when these things inevitably fail?1like1CommentPlan Needed ??
Have preferred plan. Have had to do a complete reset to factory resets for issues with connectivity and use of hands free phone calls. Now, my speed limit sign does not show. When I try to turn it on again, it says "Plan Needed" on the dashboard setting screen. Have plans but now this feature is the only one not working.0likes7CommentsOnStar - your clock depends on it?
I only realized today that apparently the clock in my Sierra 1500 is set via OnStar. A few minutes off and I would probably not have noticed for a long time. But after the recent time change, a 1-hour difference got my attention today. Of course I've got one of the dead modules - so maybe even without a subscription the clock can still set itself. That is until GM figures this out and bundles that into the service :) Fortunately, my part came in recently and is being replaced today. My 2022 Silverado has a failed OnStar (Telematic?) module. The dealer diagnostics alone was over $300, only to tell me the module had failed. I've prepaid for the part, with no idea how long it will take to arrive. There will be additional labor cost to complete replacement. I‘m subscribed to the OnStar Preferred Plan. The other day I tried to access the weather channel app. I get this message “The weather channel app for Android Auto is being discontinued “. I do not use android auto. I called OnStar yesterday and was told there is a glitch in the Access app part of my subscription. They transferred me to the loyalty dept. They removed the plan from my account and added it back. That did not resolve the problem. I called back this morning and spoke to the same person in the loyalty dept. She transferred me to the Connection Center. They couldn’t help me after having me force stop the app. They opened a ticket to have Tech Support contact me. My Grand Daughter has a 2022 Trailblazer we both own and I subscribed to Onstar for her. I added the vehicle to my existing Onstar account. Over the last several days I have attempted to send her the Family Sharing Invitation email and it never arrives. I need to get her on the app. I mentioned the My Chevrolet App and she installed it and I think set up her username (email address) and password before I had sent the email invite. Is the existence of an account with her email stopping the invitation from arriving so I can share the app with her? Better yet, tell me how to resolve this issue please. I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali that I had to take in for a dealer for them to tell me the OnStar Module needed replaced. My vehicle is over the 36,000 miles so they quoted me close to $750 to fix it. This $80k truck is only a year and a half old! Mileage should have nothing to do with this part. How is this not something that is covered by GM and/or OnStar? My 2022 Chevy Suburban Z71 OnStar Telematics Module likely failed. I took it into a local dealership in January due to the software recall. I explained to the service department that I had not been able to use the App to access vehicle info, start it remotely, access wifi, etc... since Nov 29, 2024. The service tech told me that the new software update should fix the problem. I had read about the telematics problem and called the service department prior to bringing my car in and the mechanic explained he would take a look at it. When the car was ready, I tried to access use the app and it still did not connect. The tech told me that I likely had to give the software some time to work itself out:). I'm in software and knew this was a load of BS. I asked him to bring the car back into the mechanic and he said I had to make another appointment and come back. So, my question is, what about the lack of access and I am still paying for wifi and OnStar. Can any credit be given retroactively and cancel or put this on hold until the issue is resolved?
