onstar telematics module

I recently recieved a recall for my 2025 gmc Acadia stating the onstar module was malfunctioning. This has been an ongoing problem since august. I haven’t been able to access my benefits that entire time. I just recently got my onstar fixed and now it’s expiring. When I spoke with an agent to get my onstar fixed over the phone the gentleman told me they would give me a credit for the months I went without.60Views0likes1CommentReal-time traffic on infotainment maps missing - '24 Escalade
Hi - I have a 2024 Escalade ESV V with traditional nav (not Google Built-In) that had real-time traffic capabilities when I purchased the vehicle new - December 2024. It would show color-coded traffic flows on the maps and reroute when navigating if there was a road closure or crash. That functionality ceased to function somewhere around the 6 month mark - certainly by October 2025. I have been trying to get the service back ever since. I think I have every OnStar subscription possible including those that profess to provide navigation and traffic. Does anyone know the service/source of traffic data on a '24 Escalade? Who is the provider? This is not a Google Built-In vehicle. HERE confirmed they provide the maps (SD card) but not real-time data. OnStar has flip flopped between suggesting I should be able to install an app - Maps+ (manufactured by MapBox) and mistakenly sharing Google Built-In reboot procedures. Maps+ is not rendered in my infotainment - I have used it in a 2026 loaner. The vehicle has been to the dealer twice for this issue, multiple OnStar cases and now a Cadillac Customer Care case. There is a lack of clarity around the source of the data and why it is not rendering on my vehicle. The dealer today told me I did not have a radio that supports traffic, only available in the highest trim levels. I have the highest trim available that year with the AKG Studio Reference infotainment system. FYI - the infotainment firmware is dated June 2023. Searching for OTA updates produces nothing. It occurred to me that the traffic was supplied by SiriusXM in the 360L trial - they have a nav and travel subscription which supplies traffic data. SiriusXM said my vehicle does not support their traffic service. This is driving me crazy. I need a technical expert. Thanks!233Views0likes9CommentsOnstar Module Needs Replaced
I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali that I had to take in for a dealer for them to tell me the OnStar Module needed replaced. My vehicle is over the 36,000 miles so they quoted me close to $750 to fix it. This $80k truck is only a year and a half old! Mileage should have nothing to do with this part. How is this not something that is covered by GM and/or OnStar? Especially after reading about so many other brand new trucks having this issue.33KViews21likes111CommentsOn Star module broken
I ahve a 2023 Chevy Tahoe RST and the on star module has failed. There has been no connection since 8/31/24. The dealer has said it is on backorder and no ETA when a new part will arrive. Has anyone even had their on star module replaced if having similar issue? This is very concerning and upsetting as I pay for the subscription and have also paid an annual subscription for wifi that doesn't work. The clocks in my vehicle are all off and am not getting full functionality of the vehicle I paid top dollar for. The car wouldn't start a week ago because it was sending low voltage signals to every system because of the faulty module. Luckily the dealer got it operational again but said they can't just disconnect it because that would cause too many issues. Very very frustrated here....24KViews22likes75Comments2025 Buick Enclave - Ongoing OnStar / Battery Drain Issue
Hi everyone, I’m posting to see if anyone else has been dealing with the same issue. I have a 2025 Buick Enclave that I purchased brand new about nine months ago. From the start, I’ve had recurring problems with the OnStar system and a total loss of power. The vehicle has repeatedly gone dead or failed to start. The dealer told me it’s related to a defective OnStar (telematics) module that’s been draining the battery and preventing the system from going into sleep mode. My Enclave has now spent over 30 days in the shop, and we’ve had a case open with GM for weeks — but there still isn’t a confirmed fix or part available. We have been enduring these issues while our brand new Enclave sits in the shop, and we have not received answers (from Buick or the dealer) for how it will be resolved. I wanted to share this in case other owners are experiencing similar problems or have received any updates or resolutions from GM. If anyone from Buick or GMC sees this, please reach out — I’d really like to get this resolved.3.8KViews4likes43CommentsOnStar Module Failure
I, like apparently 1,000's of others have had my OnStar module fail. I took my purchased new, regularly dealer serviced 2023 GMC Yukon Denali in for a simple oil change and tire rotation as usual at the 45,000 mile mark. While I was returning home, I found I had no navigation, WiFi, voice activation, phone start, etc. After contacting OnStar support, they told me it seemed to be a hardware failure. The speed with which they were able to diagnose this over the phone led me to believe this was a common thing. Based on this message board, it seems so common that it's hard to believe that a recall hasn't been issued. This is blatantly bad part. I've also since learned after returning to the dealership that I'm on the hook for $800+ in repairs with no idea when the part will be available. Now, I've got a nearly $100k truck that doesn't do half of the things I paid for. This is a ridiculous issue that GM & OnStar need to correct. How can there be 1,000's of people out there with the same issue and no desire by the manufacturer to make amends or at least have the parts readily available when these things inevitably fail?4.5KViews6likes32Comments2025 equinox ev- OnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable
I recently bought equinox ev 2025. In 5th month of use, telematics system stopped working. Dealership mentioned that part is nationwide back ordered with no estimated date. And i saw on many portals where same issue has raised by many car owners. Is this normal to have this part back ordered with no estimated date. And if GM knows the problem with this part, why are they selling such cars. Is there a way to raise this concern with any federal department?6.2KViews8likes63CommentsBad telematics module
Our telematics module went out on our Cadillac Optiq April 2nd after an OTA update. We went through onstar for a diagnosis, were told they could not connect, and to make a dealer appointment. The dealer had no EV service appointments available until April 27th. The dealer confirmed it was a bad telematics module and placed an order. We are stuck with no onstar, no gps, no garage opener, no wifi, no supercruise, no access to music libraries, no scheduled charging, no access through the app. This is coming up on 2 months without common vehicle features and no ETA on a fix. Very disappointing that new modules are not being directed toward current owners.117Views0likes1Comment2026 equinox less than 3 weeks old, no connection
I dread writing this..after being so excited to hop into an ev. Immediately I was having connection issues..small things..could not connect when requesting music and navigation on Google maps..onstsr said, have the shop have a look..shop said all good..1 week later now I gave no onstar and GPS doesn't move my location on google maps. Now all I see is telematics issues online. What is up with the hardware provider.. I have a bad taste in my mouth and hope this negative experience doesn't fester. Can there really be that many people with issues? Onstar..Chevy. make this right asap. Now is your chance..225Views0likes1Comment
