onstar telematics module
118 TopicsBad telematics module
Our telematics module went out on our Cadillac Optiq April 2nd after an OTA update. We went through onstar for a diagnosis, were told they could not connect, and to make a dealer appointment. The dealer had no EV service appointments available until April 27th. The dealer confirmed it was a bad telematics module and placed an order. We are stuck with no onstar, no gps, no garage opener, no wifi, no supercruise, no access to music libraries, no scheduled charging, no access through the app. This is coming up on 2 months without common vehicle features and no ETA on a fix. Very disappointing that new modules are not being directed toward current owners.70Views0likes1Comment2026 equinox less than 3 weeks old, no connection
I dread writing this..after being so excited to hop into an ev. Immediately I was having connection issues..small things..could not connect when requesting music and navigation on Google maps..onstsr said, have the shop have a look..shop said all good..1 week later now I gave no onstar and GPS doesn't move my location on google maps. Now all I see is telematics issues online. What is up with the hardware provider.. I have a bad taste in my mouth and hope this negative experience doesn't fester. Can there really be that many people with issues? Onstar..Chevy. make this right asap. Now is your chance..55Views0likes1Comment2025 Blazer EV: Telematics Failure, No ETA, and No OTA Updates — What’s Going On at GM?
As an early buyer of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV, I had high hopes. I believed in GM’s vision for the future of electric vehicles. But my ownership experience has been marred by ongoing support issues that I feel compelled to share for the benefit of other EV owners and prospective buyers. Shortly after taking delivery, I discovered that I couldn’t access Tesla’s Supercharger network—something GM advertised as a key convenience—because the required adapter wasn’t available. Even GM itself couldn’t source it for weeks. Eventually, I received one, but only after significant inconvenience and lost travel flexibility. More troubling is the issue I face today: a failed Telematics Control Module, which has disabled my OnStar system and cut off access to over-the-air (OTA) updates. That means my Blazer may not receive important software improvements or even safety-related patches unless I manually bring it into a dealership—something I was told would be handled automatically when I purchased the vehicle. There’s no ETA on the part. The dealership, sympathetic as they are, admitted that many GM parts are backordered and hard to obtain. They even encouraged me and others to reach out to GM directly—something I’ve now done repeatedly. Through it all, my Senior Executive Resolution Liaison, Amira, has been incredibly helpful. She responds promptly, remains professional, and has shown genuine concern for resolving the issue. But even she is hitting brick walls. I truly don’t know how she does her job every day without the tools she needs. Frankly, GM should be paying people like her double. I’ve tried to handle this privately and with patience, but I want to raise awareness among prospective buyers and encourage greater transparency from GM.1.9KViews1like20Comments2025 equinox ev- OnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable
I recently bought equinox ev 2025. In 5th month of use, telematics system stopped working. Dealership mentioned that part is nationwide back ordered with no estimated date. And i saw on many portals where same issue has raised by many car owners. Is this normal to have this part back ordered with no estimated date. And if GM knows the problem with this part, why are they selling such cars. Is there a way to raise this concern with any federal department?4.8KViews8likes57CommentsGoogle map showing incorrect location and OnStar not connected
I have Chevy equinox ev lt2 2025 on lease since April 2025 After first few months, Then the GPS started showing that I was in places that were 100 miles away. That is when I pressed my OnStar button, which did not work. So I called OnStar. They told me that since the OnStar button was still green, to take the car to my dealership & tell them OnStar said it was the telematics module. I brought it to the dealership. They sent me right home because they said it would take some time to even diagnose the issue and the diagnosis will determine how long a repair will be. After that we had multiple calls with OnStar and dealer but no help so far. We had appointment today 12th November 2025 with Andean Chevrolet Cumming GA, technician didn’t see the issue at all and tried to sell on star membership. it is clear that with on star basic free membership Google Maps should work and it is working for many of my friend. They are saying we need to buy paid membership. now I have appointment again on November 17th. Hope this time it should be resolved. One guy indicated antenna issue no one suggested rot cause and solution so far.659Views1like4CommentsAnother Bad Telematics Module
I own a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox. My OnStar was spotty but working in March and April, but now went completely out. I called OnStar and they could not connect. They said it was probably the telematics module is bad and I needed to take it to the dealer. Took it to the dealer and after two days of trying to get the OnStar to work they said the module needed to be replaced. Fine, but the module is on back order with no ETA. I’ve read online that it could be up to a year. This is our only car and I pay a lot for my subscription. I do so because OnStar is something I rely on and now you tell me I’m without it for weeks, months… who knows? Plus I’m spending $$$ for nothing until it’s fixed. Someone surely has an idea of when I can get this fixed…don’t they?152Views0likes1CommentOnStar Module Failure - software recall?
My 2022 Chevy Suburban Z71 OnStar Telematics Module likely failed. I took it into a local dealership in January due to the software recall. I explained to the service department that I had not been able to use the App to access vehicle info, start it remotely, access wifi, etc... since Nov 29, 2024. The service tech told me that the new software update should fix the problem. I had read about the telematics problem and called the service department prior to bringing my car in and the mechanic explained he would take a look at it. When the car was ready, I tried to access use the app and it still did not connect. The tech told me that I likely had to give the software some time to work itself out:). I'm in software and knew this was a load of BS. I asked him to bring the car back into the mechanic and he said I had to make another appointment and come back. So, my question is, what about the lack of access and I am still paying for wifi and OnStar. Can any credit be given retroactively and cancel or put this on hold until the issue is resolved? I am paying for something that is not functional....6.9KViews5likes57CommentsTelmatic Module
To Whom it may concern, I have a 2023 (7/1/23) GMC Sierra. The telematics unit was out for approx. 5 weeks before I had a dealer appt for another issue. They said i would have to work with Onstar to figure it out, so I was at the dealer and I did just that. Onstar stated that I needed to schedule an appt. with the dealer. The dealer couldn't fit me in for another topic that day. Two weeks later the dealer stated that it was the telmatics module. It was also on backorder. It was 7 weeks since the need for a telematics module which was out of warranty. There is no future appt for the replacement do to it being on backorder. based on my internet research there appears to be an ongoing issue with these late model Telematics Modules across multiple brands. My questions.... Shouldn't this be covered under warranty (the dealer stated the GMC would cover half) since it is Onstar related and I have a 3-year subscription to the service? I think Onstar needs to credit me the time on the subscription once the app starts talking to the truck again. There is no end in sight on when the issue would be fixed. I am looking for Onstar feedback Thanks, DLBuff2.2KViews4likes15Comments
