OnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable
my 2025 Equinox EV (4000 miles) also has a failed Telematics module (as of 2.1.25) with a "backorder" status and dealer has no idea when it'll be in. Not only does it affect OnStar, but gps/maps/charger near you dont work either. You have to guess and figure it out manually. The car thinks I'm hundreds of miles from where I actually am and doesn't change location. This is unacceptable in any vehicle, but especially an EV which relies on the information to travel

Exact same issue for me. Have 2025 blaze ev. No map or music from last 3 weeks. When I tried to contact onstar support using buttons it is blinking green. Went to dealership and they told me onstar module is bad and no timelines for replacement.
is it possible to connect using my phone hotspot?

I’m not happy to find that this problem has existed before I purchased my vehicle 2025 Arcadia Denali. Now I’m line with all theses people also. All my problems started when I was asked to update my system. If you knew the problem existed. Why would the system ask people to update their system? This sounds like it’s going to fall under the Florida lemon law act. I’m a very dissatisfied customer and plan to file what ever it takes. This is a nightmare I’m in fear every time I go out of town because my system does it’s own thing. I have already went through OnStar for two hours and then took it to be serviced only to find out my part is on backorder.

I purchased my 2025 Cadillac CTS in May 2025. In November, I noticed the time started to be a minute behind. Then my Google would not connect. OnStar tried to troubleshoot remotely but asked me to take it to the dealership. I bought it to Henricks where they said the module went bad and backed order. I called to my service specialist, Gavin to ask on the status of the part. He said the part was still not in. I asked to speak to a manager. I talked to Matt. I am making a long story long. Bottom line, my car is in the shop now. The incorrect part was ordered for my car. Gavin said it will take at least another month to get the correct part. Here are the problems with my car:
loss of OnStar services
Loss of GPS navigation
Loss mobile app connectivity (remote start)
Time is off by 5 minutes
Heads-Up display is not working properly, not reading the Highway mileage
Key Missing Check for Key Warning
I feel unsafe in the car.

Same problem here. Bought new 2025 Equinox EV in December 2024 and for no apparent reason all my connected apps stopped working. I cannot even update the car over the air anymore. I got the same non answer from my dealership after their service dept inspected and verified that the On Star module was to blame. “Backordered, no ETA, nothing we can do.” Similar to others, we took a big risk switching from having highly reliable Mazdas to try out the Chevy. Already looking like a big mistake.

After doing more research, I found out GM as well as other car manufacturers, are experiencing chip shortages. The sole distributor for GM is a company called SPECMO. When I called and asked SPECMO for an ETA on these modules, I was told mid to late July. While that remains to be seen if that ETA is accurate, at least it is a time frame. I also asked if these modules are repairable and the answer was GM only replaces these modules with new ones.

We are having the same experience and about the same time frame in Washington State. We bought a brand new 2025 Equinox EV Nov 30th, 2024, the Telemetrics module failed May 28th, 2025, and was confirmed June 4th by our Chevrolet dealer. Today what I found out is a company called Specmo (Specmo [Wholesale and OEM]), is the sole supplier of these modules for GM. When I go onto their website, I think they refurbish components and are not manufacturers. I have posed this question to Specmo and hope that I will have an answer next week. A side note, I queried who are telemetric manufacturers and Specmo is not in the top 12, so I'm a little suspicious of the claim Specmo manufactures these modules. One thing for certain is my expectation is to receive a new part not a part that has been refurbished one.

Unfortunately, my 2025 Yukon Denali keeps giving me nothing but problems.
My truck has been without an OnStar service for 20 days because of DEFECTIVE Telematics module and unfortunately the dealer can only provide the Backorder with no ETA for modules to become available.
This means no OnStar, Super Cruise, Wi-Fi, Entertainment System and a BIG Check Engine light !!!
GMC needs to step up and provide the parts and service to the customers, this is a not a dealer problem, this is a known quality repetitive issue that must be resolved Immediately.

Exact same problem with my 2025 Equniox RS. Car spent last 4 days in shop only to determine it needs a new telematics module. Said part is on backorder with no projected eta. Could the supply chain problem be that the telematics module is manufactured in South Korea and OnStar/GM's profit margin is being negitively affected by the pending 25% tariff increase imposed on South Korea?

So the module came in June 5th, 2025. Spent 6 hours at the dealership because the service tech could not get the new module to accept the software codes. Now our new car, with approximately 2600 miles on it sits at the dealership until a GM Computer Specialist from Detroit can come down to manually write the software into the new Telematics Module. I've had a past practice of purchasing a new car every 3 to five years since 1974, and have never experienced this type of inconvenience and continuing nightmare of life-disturbing events.

So frustrated! After my telematics module failed on May 22, I was told by my dealer that it’s on backorder with no ETA. Then, just days later on May 26, I get an email from OnStar saying my Safety & Security services have expired. How does that make any sense?
I’ve spent countless hours explaining my situation to multiple people, and Still no fix and now I’m stuck waiting indefinitely for a part that has no ETA.
To make matters worse, I was under the impression that my free OnStar plan would stay active until the module was replaced, yet here I am with expired services and no working OnStar and GPS. OnStar even told me to sign back up for paid services in that email, but why would I pay for a system that doesn’t even work?
I bought a brand-new 2024 Equinox EV, moving from a Japanese maker, and this is the experience I get? These connected vehicle features were a major selling point for my purchase, and now I don’t have them. No ETA is completely unacceptable—how long am I supposed to just wait? GM and OnStar need to provide real answers, not just the same scripted response of “backordered” and “no ETA”.
Anyone else dealing with this mess in Canada?

Seems I'm experiencing the same situation as you, KoolZoal. I bought a 2025 Equinox RS in May. Everything seemed to be working fine for the next month or two, but then I'd experience wild GPS innacuracies in the navigation system, or persistent difficulty connecting to the car via the Chevy Android app, and frequent spurious errors trying to use the Google online services in the car. Called OnStar a few times and they had me go through a series of steps to effectively "reboot" my car, which temporarily seemed to restore GPS. Eventually all connectivity and GPS was lost. Brought the car into the dealership for service, and they tried to troubleshoot. Over multiple visits they eventually told me that they had an engineer at Chevy who wanted to dial into my car to debug the system. I showed the service advisor the many "backordered Telematics" threads in this forum describing exactly the problems I was having, but he said that Chevy still wanted to look. They eventually came to the same conclusion and told the dealer to replace the module. Been waiting now for well over a month with no word. I've had multiple long trips with the car in the interim where having the integrated charging routes/maps would have been far better than searching for charging stations on my phone. Of course, now I'm getting notifications that my OnStar services will soon expire. As others have said, why would I pay for something that doesn't work? In essence I have been doing exactly that for the past few months since those missing services were factored into the price I paid for the car. Not sure where to look for redress at this point. Has anyone on this thread received any sort of compensation or term adjustment on their OnStar services after eventually receiving their replacement module?
