EV features removed from app
I have a 2015 Volt and myChevrolet app no longer shows EV detail on the app. This includes charging status, range, charging options, etc. Also, the "vehicle status" detail that is shown is from 16 months ago (Dec 2023). All of this functionality worked fine a few days ago. I loaded and reloaded the app on multiple devices and they are all the same.

This is the absolute last straw for me. OnStar is getting cancelled. The one reason I pay for this crap service is to see my car’s charge status. Do NOT tell me delete/reinstall, power cycle my phone, restart my car, etc. OnStar reps give this same canned response EVERY TIME their stuff breaks. It’s not the users’ fault OnStar! It’s YOUR garbage service that you refuse to fix. So that’s it. I’m out. I encourage everyone else to do the same. They’ll never fix anything. They’ll just tell you to rub your tummy, stand on your head, spin around three times, and magically your services will start working, except they won’t! /rant

I have installed from Aptoide version: 7.4.0 (4461) and that brought back the electric range info. But the latest version it's breaking it.

Same issue with my ‘16 Cadillac ELR. Deleted and reinstalled the Cadillac, Buick( told by customer care it would be a workaround) and even the Chevrolet app since ELR is the sister of the Volt thinking that may work, all to no avail. You all are about to lose my business as an onstar subscriber with this bad info and lack of effort on updating display PHEV battery status for my car.

I opened a trouble ticket with OnStar and I received a call today with an update. As we all guessed, there is nothing wrong with my car, there is no bug with the app, OnStar has simply removed this functionality from the app for Volt owners. As a Volt owner, I don’t care much about the oil life or the remaining fuel in the car. The charging features were the main reason I used the app.
This may seem like a trivial issue, but it’s the principle that really bothers me. “Everybody In” is GM’s EV marketing slogan. Apparently, this doesn’t apply to Volt owners, the original early adopter of GM’s EV’s. GM doesn’t care about us, message received.

We do not want you to feel as if your voice is unheard. Our team would be more than happy to further document any feedback related to your concerns and assist in any ways that we can moving forward. Please know, we are only a private message away if you would like to discuss the myChevrolet mobile app and functionality further.

Thank you kindly for providing us with the troubleshooting steps you have already taken. If you have already ensured the myChevrolet mobile app is currently up to date on your device, we do recommend completing a Power Cycle. This should assist in updating your vehicle insight and ensuring any diagnostics are accurate. Please see the below steps:
1. Turn ignition on for at least 2 minutes
2. Turn ignition off and wait 2-5 minutes (so data can be collected)
3. Log out of the myChevrolet app and log back in - this may help the app refresh
4. If the concern is still not resolved, please wait 2-3 minutes and refresh the app again, as the status can take a few minutes to update
5. Drive the vehicle around for a few minutes to allow data to refresh on the app
If these steps do not assist with updating any of your details, kindly let us know. We would be more than happy to take a further look into things on our end.

I have the same problem with the mychevrolet app with my 2019 Volt. the most recent app update has removed all charge status information. That's ridiculous as that's the main reason an EV owner would use that app, as is my reason. Is this a temporary issue and that functionality will be brought back?
- Advisor_JackModerator
Our team appreciates you bringing this difficulty accessing your 2019 Chevrolet Volt's EV Charging Status and Settings within the app, Shea. We recognize how important it is to have access to these details for the vehicle that you love and rely on every day. At this time, we'd like to assist further with resolving this concern for you. As an initial step, our team recommends attempting to uninstall/reinstall the app on your device if you have not previously attempted this. Additionally, we also recommend completing a power cycle on your Volt. The instructions for this process are illustrated in our last message in this thread. If you're still having trouble after attempting these troubleshooting steps, our team kindly asks that you send us a private message so that we may continue to best assist you there. To send us message, just select the envelope icon at the top right of your screen to get started. When creating a new message, please be sure to enter Advisor_Jack to get connected directly to me. Hi Jack!
It's pretty obvious that the newest versions of the app (either my chevrolet or my gm) no longer work as well as the old my chevrolet app (at least with my 2017 Volt). After uninstalling, clearing caches, etc., I have no way to determine the charging status. I just reinstalled the old app version and canceled my onstar subscription.
Please pass our disappointment up the ladder.
- SheaNew Contributor II
New development on this, for me on Android when I get the fully charged notification and click on it, it takes me to the Charging Dashboard, so it's in there, it's just not programmed to be accessible directly...yet. I have a case open, because this is worth fighting to get back.
- KonaguyNew Contributor
I assume all Volt owners have experienced the same issue. I noticed it a while back but did not do anything until I googled the problem and found this thread. I will likely cancel Onstar because the app has little value to me without the charging info. I've tried uninstalling, etc. Nothing works.
- jlanterNew Contributor
It appears a new version of the myChevrolet app for iOS, v7.7.0, was submitted by GM almost three days ago and was only just published by Apple sometime between 11:00 and 16:00 EDT on 5/1/25. Has anyone tried this new version to see if the issue is fixed?
The version notes in the Apple App store are the standard, sub-standard notes that offer nothing of value. I’m reluctant to try it lest I lose even the remaining vestigial ability to get to the Volt EV charging info through pop-up notices.
- jlanterNew Contributor
Good news! I received a call from OnStar today (11:04 AM EDT, Monday, 5/11/25) regarding my case with them regarding this issue. The young woman that called stated promptly that this is now a known issue, "the development team is aware of it", they are "working on a fix", and that they expect to release a fix "by the end of this month". (The parts in quotes were my closest recollection to the actual words she said.)
I think that's the best we can hope for right now. IMHO, this looks like an oversight by the developers. I don't think they're intentionally shutting out or phasing out the Volt, I think they just got a little careless in their UX mods and made a mistake.
- SheaNew Contributor II
Completely agree that this looks like an honest mistake since I can access the EV Dashboard when I clicked on the "fully charged" notification the app pops up. the functionality is still in there, they just need to fix the link to the Vehicle Status page.
- jlc127New Contributor II
That’s interesting that you are getting notifications. I lost all notification functionality with the app update.
- jd8546New Contributor
I also submitted a case with OnStar and I received a call today (5/13/2025) from OnStar technical department with similar information. She said that the mobile app team is currently working to restore all access through the app and the release is scheduled for mid-May.
- jlanterNew Contributor
As of this posting, 8:15 PM EDT on 5/14/2025, v7.8.0 is now available in the Apple App Store (listed as released "2 days ago", circa 5/12/2025). I've just now installed the app and I can verify that it is now showing electric range, along with gasoline range and total combined range, on the main summary screen for the vehicle. However, tapping "Vehicle Status" to view the status screen still does not include any EV information nor is there any way to access charging options. So, as of now, there is a slight improvement, but the issue remains unfixed.
And just to confirm something I asked about previously: the bug (or "design flaw", or "omission", or whatever you want to call it) exists in the following versions. I believe this is a complete list; if there is a point revision anyone is aware of that isn't on this list, please post a reply with the version number(s).
- 7.6.0 (*bug introduced)
- 7.6.1
- 7.7.0
- 7.8.0 (*partial improvement)
We'll keep our fingers crossed that the app developers are continuing to work on this issue. And to Helen and any of the other GM assistants that monitor this thread:
We'd all love to see a post from one of you when your development team officially and finally signifies the bug has been fixed. The release notes with each version never specify exactly which bugs are being fixed--we have no way of knowing whether or not any specific version is intended to fix this or any other known problem. Thanks!

Excellent info. I have and plan to continue calking OnStar to get discounts or free month credits until the EV Charging status and controls are returned to the app, as it is not worth paying the full monthly fee without those features. I encourage others to do the same to apply gentle pressure to get these features back.
