Alexa skill for My Chevrolet no longer available

I use a routine on my Alexa device to open my garage door and start my vehicle daily while getting ready to leave for work.  Within the last week, I noticed that I wasn't getting prompted for my PIN to start my vehicle, and getting a message from Alexa that it couldn't connect to My Chevrolet. This has happened before and I would just have to re-link my account in the Alexa app. When I tried to do that, it appears that the My Chevrolet skill is no longer available on Alexa. Has it changed to something else?

What a complete BS response, don’t pee on my leg and say it’s raining. You did not have bunch of GM owners that fundamentally took exception to using Alexa to interact with their vehicle, you just removed a service in the hopes the folks it mattered to would be a minority and you could keep charging the same month fee.

I was already annoyed paying for a service Ford offers for free (with far fewer bugs) so now GM takes away a fundamental feature I used the most. No sense in keeping Onstar now. I’ll be calling to cancel this afternoon.

It's kind of funny what we're going through—it reminds me of that quote from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!

I did try to find a reference online about when we were notified of these changes, but I couldn’t find anything. Interestingly, I discovered that the Canada website still offers the Alexa skill. Guess what? I’m moving to Canada!

I’m very disappointed to find out that this Alexa skill is no longer available. No one from GM or OnStar asked my opinion. I used the skill to start my vehicle before I went to work especially in the winter.  I had no idea there were plans to end this skill.

I bought a GM vehicle yesterday and the dealer told me I can start my car with Alexa.  Apparently, GM not only failed to inform their customers, but their dealers are also in the dark.  And I do not believe the BS line that customers prefer to use the app to remote start.  Why don't you just tell the truth and admit that GM doesn't want to spend the money to support the alexa skill any longer? Customers be damned.  As a 41 year employee (retired) and customer of GM, I am not only disappointed with this, but am embarrassed at how little GM thinks of their customers.

This Alexa skill was literally the reason I decided to go with paying for OnStar when I purchased my vehicle. When it’s cold in the winter I ask my home Alexa device to start my car from either my bed or while running around getting dressed/doing my hair, etc for work and don’t have time to stop what I’m doing to take my phone out…..go into an app…..long hold a button just to get my car to start.

I could do it faster with my key fob if I have to do it with my hands. I guess I no longer need to pay for an OnStar subscription

Today, I received notice that my OnStar price is increasing $3 per month.  More money.  Fewer services. My dealer has worked very hard to sell me this vehicle and to maintain it, and to earn my trust. I trust my dealer implicitly. Apparently, however, GM does not give a care for that. When the time comes for me to buy my replacement vehicle, I will be sure to stop by and to thank them, and to explain why I will not be buying GM again., and to explain why I will not be buying GM again.

Sorry for the repetition. Not sure how that happened.

What an insulting response by GM to finding out the Alexa skill is now simply just gone.  This was why I paid for connected services... I don't care about OnStar.  I want to ask Alexa to start my truck when it's freezing outside and I'm getting ready... but now apparently I can't.  Give us an API we can integrate to Home Assistant then.  I used this skill as well.  This will be the last new Silverado I purchase.

As Mkimanderson said above, I got an e-mail saying the monthly fee was going up $3.  An extra $3 for less services... wow, what an insult.  I am calling to cancel my service right after this post.  That was the nail in the coffin.  Insult to injury.  Really crazy what is going on in the world these days.

Add me to the long list of disappointed and departing customers.  You have lost me as a customer due to this sudden and unannounced removal of services that you claim is unwanted by your customers.  That claim is clearly not true.  You have taken away one of the most compelling reasons why many people bought your products in the first place.  Good bye GM and OnStar.
