OnStar Not working - 2025 Chevy Equinox EV
My OnStar failed 3 days ago. Took the car to dealership today and they said they need to order the replacement module and it is backordered. Very disappointed that this new car with less than 10K miles has this kind of issue. I see other owners also have the same issue. What is GM doing?

mine only had 5,442 miles when last status was sent from the car. i called onstar and they act like they have no idea. onstar knows GM knows And Dealers Know and thier not sending warnings to thier customers and yes the module is on back order but you don't see any factories down waiting on modules or new cars on the lot waiting for modules just the vechical owners and the dealers or sending customers back on the road with defective modules that will drain thier battery over night.

Want to give an update to all who have similar issues. I got my replacement module yesterday and it was fixed today by the dealer. It is working now.

I checked with my dealer just now and there is still no ETA on when the OnStar module will arrive. For what its worth, I filed a complaint with FTC on this website against GM,

I have had issues with my Onstar for months. First time I took it to the dealership in August they gaslighted me trying to say nothing was wrong. I have been paying for and not being able to use the WIFI for months. Now the app doesn't communicate with my 2025 Chevrolet Equinox so I ant use any of the commands so I took back to dealership for them to have it the entire to tell me it needs a new module and its on backorder with no timeframe of being able to get it in to be repaired. I did call Onstar immediately to suspend my service I am not paying for something that doesn't work, and they were kind enough to refund me 3 months of service which I appreciate. My main concern is all the safety features of Onstar not working makes me a little leery of driving the vehicle.

The lip service and cut and paste we feel your pain responses are getting old. An awful lot of us have been waiting endlessly for replacement telematics modules on almost brand new cars. No ETA, no information about why they are broken, no information regarding a fix, no assurance that the problem won’t continue after the module is replaced. How about GM providing an actual meaningful response or take action to generate sufficient replacement parts? All this experience has done for most of us is left us angry and regretting ever purchasing such a P.O.S. vehicle. GM really needs to do better. Feels almost like GM is intentionally driving away its customers.

I have the same issue. The OnStar hardware is not responsive. I have to take it back to the dealership Wednesday morning. Ugh the truck is brand new. Hopefully it’s an easy fix and I’m not stranded again with no vehicle. This is the second issue with my truck since I purchased it in April. The first issue I had was the transmission.

I just bought a 2025 certified pre owned equinox with 29,000 miles a week ago. Onstar did not work when we tried to do the welcome call. Just had it at the dealership for the day today and guess what?? It’s a bad module that is on backorder. Very disappointed in the situation. This makes it difficult to to trust the product and or service that onstar can provide since this seems to be a widespread problem. I live in southern Louisiana and the maps won’t update and show me in Florida. Disappointed..

Is there any information available regarding the shipment timeline for the OnStar hardware module to dealerships? Our parts department has no ETA—can anyone from OnStar provide an update?

Not much of anything. I been in contact with GM and not getting much for results at all. I’ve contacted an attorney that deals with lemon laws and I’m trying to get a list of people together for lawsuit against GM. If you’re interested in joining please send some info to me. The attorney told me there are no fees that they are taking care of in the lawsuit and GM pays them in the suit. If you want to join list going to be submitted to attorney you may email me at mailto:tbeyer9607@yahoo.com. It’s time we go after them 😡😡
