Time to hold GM responsible for the no ETA on Onstar Module. Attach your name to be added.

My OnStar recently went out as well, and I'm trying to avoid another trip to the dealership for a fix! This seemed to happen around the same time as I got the recent software recall fix -- what I don't get is why GMC is not taking more responsibility for that and offering a clean fix.

I am owner of Chevy Equinox 2025 and your onstar telemaric module is malfunctioning cause to drain my battery making the vechile not drivable so there is no part available or ETA. This is really bad for Onstar that they have not come up with a solution and law suites are necessary as this would put them out of business. No resolution to this I will make sure to never buy any vechile or product that has Onstar. I want a resolution from Onstar and I will further my interests in a class action lawsuit.

Has anyone thought about taking this to the MEDIA? News outlets? Wouldn’t this be a great story for prime time? Let me know if anyone has connections. I’m camera friendly.

I bought my 2025 Equinox in November. I started having issues with Onstar in March/April. I called Onstar and they said it had to be escalated to a manager and the manager would call me back in 5-8 days. No one ever called. It was a minor inconvenience, so I decided I’d have the service department address it when I was in for an oil change. I took it in for an oil change last week and was told (surprise) the telematic module is going out and needs replaced. They’ve ordered a new one but (surprise again) it’s on back order. The mechanic messed with it and said it was working but eventually will go out. Last weekend the Onstar button started blinking green constantly. Now, apparently, the Onstar continues to blink when the car is off. I went out this morning to take my son to catch the bus for a band outing, and my car was dead. The Onstar light was still flashing, but nothing else. It took several attempts to get it to unlock and then nothing. No dashboard lights, radio, absolutely nothing except the flashing green light. The green light quit flashing an hour later. We got it on the battery charger, and as soon as it was charged enough, the green light started flashing again. The minor inconvenience has become a serious issue. I cannot go without my car for months waiting on a new module.

I have a 2022 Tahoe LT. It just hit 42K and the Onstar Module is out. Just our of Factory Warranty. It took me 4 days to have a technician look at it knowing it was the module so my SUV was stuck at a dealership and they finally confirmed after 4 days it was the module and is on backorder with no visibly of availability. This is a really bad customer experience plus I am paying for a Onstar service that I cannot access. There needs to be some transparency and accountability

Count me in. 2025 Suburban Z71. Things were fine during onstar trial period. Then plan selected no wifi/hotspot since. Escalated onstar case multiple times no luck. Dealership visit today (day loss of pay because this can only be done weekdays) no luck. Dealer tech says everything looks fine no error codes. I asked about the module issues i learned about here and he says it’s on back order. Im ashamed to say i went from Toyota to GM!!! Our modules are in back order and so should these vehicle payments!

My suburban and Yukon are same. GMC customer support enthusiastically called me, and the dealership enthusiastically helped me file a claim with GMC. However, GMC denied my claim to replace telecom module . I recently reviewed numerous Chevrolet and GMC Carfax records and found that most vehicles had their communication modules replaced free of charge through a friend program. This is a clear product defect, yet GMC not only failed to disclose this information, but is charging some owners for it. If GMC charges any owner whose communication module is damaged, I recommend that they obtain a lawyer to represent them and sue GMC for compensation.

Can you explain the friend program?

Same problem, vehicle is 3 months old. OnStar hasn't worked correctly from day one. Been jerked around for weeks. Finally called dealer because OnStar said I had to. Dealership is also jerking me around. Telling me they need to diagnose it ( even though I told them OnStar claims they have the error code ) Dealership insisting they will need the vehicle for a period of time and they won't provide a loaner until it is diagnosed. Well, that doesn't work for me, I need to drive daily for my job. It is a new car, it is THEIR problem, not mine. Called OnStar back, they basically said pay out of pocket and get reimbursed. LMFAO. As if I believe they would reimburse me? Hopefully someone initiates a class action suit. I will gladly join! Meanwhile, hoping everyone on here is leaving bad reviews for OnStar so more unsuspecting souls don't get screwed!

This is Bull! They need to give you a loaner. The module on back order and they know that. They are so far behind in the dealership because so many people are having to go in due to this. They had my car for a month I was able to get the loaner for 18 days, because they first told me they didnt have one. They have replaced it on my vehicle but the other day the screen went black again. This time I took a picture of it so I can show them when I go back. I dont understand how they keep getting away with this. All of this trouble from a new car and all they offer you is some GM points. Smh I will never but another one from Gm
- CarCat59Contributor
Yup. I am fairly certain they just sold thousands of vehicles knowing they had these faulty modules. I will never buy another GM either, problem is, this is brand new, so until I can have enough time off work to get this repaired...I am screwed. Knowing it is a faulty module, order it, when it arrives, call me and fix my car . Nope- going to screw people around because they can. I am actively trying to leave bad reviews wherever I can in the hopes that people don't buy the vehicle and don't subscribe to OnStar.
- Slandry69New Contributor II
Dealer also just told me I need active onstar to diagnose. They want me to pay subscription before can tell me the mod needs to be replaced. They won’t fix it free and wants me to pay for subscription.
