I use a routine on my Alexa device to open my garage door and start my vehicle daily while getting ready to leave for work. Within the last week, I noticed that I wasn't getting prompted for my PIN to start my vehicle, and getting a message from Alexa that it couldn't connect to My Chevrolet. This has happened before and I would just have to re-link my account in the Alexa app. When I tried to do that, it appears that the My Chevrolet skill is no longer available on Alexa. Has it changed to something else?

I had no clue that the My Chevrolet skill was gone from Alexa. So, advisor Helen......who did you ask to determine that most of your customers preferred the phone app or fob remote start? I wasn't even informed, as a Chevy owner, who, pays a monthly fee to have this convenience. I live in Canada and the weather gets cold. It's so easy and seamless to ask Alexa to start my vehicle from the warmth and convenience of my bathroom before heading off to work.
You guys touted Alexa over and over on your emails etc. What happened???
I'm soooooo ticked off with you GM/OnStar.
Don't expect me to purchase another GM product if this is an example of your decision-making toward your customers.
You didn't ask ANY of us; you made a decision without even allowing for feedback, nor did you inform us that our skill was no longer available.
Not happy.

Well that was a down right backwards move. Used that app regularly to check my fuel level and start my truck while getting ready in the morning... maybe part of you not having more users on it, was that we had to find it ourselves. I think im done with onstar at this point. Gm really does like to come in last for viehical tech

Absolutely the WORST decision! What other car company would go BACKWARDS and remove a convivence feature in this day and age because "our customers prefer it", Pahleeze! My next purchase will not be with GM.

I’m so disappointed in Chevy…. This was a great perk to have… thanks a bunch! First CarPlay and now Alexa…. Next vehicle will not be a Chevy or GM product. You’ve taken All my functionality that I use away. Even Maserati has a skill… seriously GM!

@Advisor_Helen, as noted by others, how was it, exactly, that you “found that your members prefer to use remote commands in their vehicle mobile apps”? I received no survey or questionnaire asking if this was my preference, nor was I ever asked by a GM or Onstar representative.
Similarly, we received no notice, via mail, email or even in our apps, that this feature was going away.
We’ve got news for GM…a great many of your users would prefer to NOT have to jump through the hoops of having to keep our phones in our hands, at all times, open an app, authenticate and then press and hold a “button”when we could simply configure our automation systems (I.e. Amazon echo or similar) to do these functions for us, where available.

I recently realized something when i read a follow up post on this thread. I've been a loyal Chevy Silverado owner for years., but on my previous vehicle purchase, I considered switching to a different brand, but when I discovered they didn’t offer a remote start feature as seamless as Chevy's Alexa skill. I stuck with what I knew and got another Silverado.
However, for my next vehicle, I might rethink my options.
Interestingly, I noticed that the Chevrolet website no longer mentions the Alexa Skill, except in cached search engine results. The GM site still lists it here: Amazon Alexa and My GMC App. Of course, now that I’ve pointed it out, they might remove it too!

We appreciate your feedback and sentiments about how you enjoyed this feature in your Chevrolet Silverado. As we mentioned in an earlier post, OnStar has discontinued the vehicle mobile apps Skill feature for Amazon Alexa-supported devices. Our goal is to provide our members access to OnStar, wherever they are. We found that our members prefer to use remote commands in their vehicle mobile apps. In response, we’ve decided to end the Alexa Skill for the MyChevrolet app. With this, the Alexa Built-in will not be sunsetting, and all in vehicle functionality will remain the same. Only commands from your home to your car will be sunsetting. That being said, Members can still use remote commands to perform the same functions that were available via Alexa, with an active eligible service plan. If you have any other questions at this time, we would be happy to help.

Advisor Jack. Simply repeating the company line does g assist. It just frosts people all the more. Just saw your post when I can online to say that every Morning that I can’t use this skill convinces me more that a GM is not in my future. And I’m also considering dropping g my less useful OnStar package.

The GM app stinks for starting car. I have 3 cars with capabilities. Have to s select app, wait, log into app, wait, select vehicle, wait, push/hold start button. Most times I don’t even bother anymore. Alexa skill was awesome.

MyGMC skill quit with an invalid gateway error since June. You Chevy folks are fortunate. I’ve used the MyGMC Alexa Skill in several vehicles. That feature was the reason I purchased my Sierra HD 2500 Denali Ultimate. I am done with GM. What’s up with Tech Regression in these times?
