Telematic Control Module needs replacement, but backordered with no ETA?! UNACCEPTABLE
My 2024 Equinox EV 2RS (Purchased brand new in November '24, only 1,568 miles on to-date) is now in the dealership for the third time due to what was thought to be a 12v battery problem. Turns out, it was a faulty Telematic Control Module that needs replacing, and the dealership that's working on it says GM has no timetable/ETA for the part?! The amount of posts on here reflecting how frequently this is happening should make GM want to have THOUSANDS of these parts on hand for immediate deployment, not arbitrarily informing dealerships, "There's no ETA." I'm a new mom and back to work for the first time since giving birth in October, and being unable to count on a vehicle to simply work is beyond defeating.

Same issue with my ‘22 Sierra. OTA’s have never worked, I’ve had to take into the dealer many times for them to do them. Having a complete telematics failure now, OnStar confirmed truck is offline and I’m paying for th connected plan. TCU seem to be a complete dud. We need a class action here.

Hi Brendan,
Thank you for reaching out. I have sent a private message and am also posting here without personal details.
I am experiencing a complete telematics failure on my 2022 GMC Sierra Denali 6.2L.
Symptoms:
- OnStar blue button unresponsive
- Vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot disabled and grayed out
- OnStar has confirmed the truck is offline
- OTA updates have never worked since ownership
- GPS and connected services not functioning
Troubleshooting completed:
- Vehicle sleep reset
- Battery disconnect reset
- Remote reset attempted by OnStar
The system remains non-functional and I am paying for connected services I cannot use. Based on troubleshooting this appears consistent with a telematics control module failure.
Mileage approximately 33000.
I am scheduled for dealer diagnosis tomorrow and wanted to see what support or guidance GM or OnStar may be able to provide.
Thank you.

I have the same problem with my 2025 Equinox EV. The dealer diagnosed it as a Telematic Control Module with a no ETA. This is unacceptable. I have none of the safety aspects of the OnStar system. I can’t use navigation. I can’t find a charging station. I can’t see or control anything through the MyChevrolet app. No over the air updates. I have no idea when I will receive the part. I have only 3,500 miles on the car. Not a happy camper!

Just had my 2025 Buick Enclave that I bought in September 25 get diagnosed with a bad module. Was told that as of today there were 5200 modules on back order.. WOW!!

2025 Traverse High Country… no GPS, No SuperCruise, no OnStar connection, etc., etc!!! Ugh!!! And the dealership is 3 weeks out for any electronic diagnostic appointment.
SO very disappointed in my decision to purchase this vehicle and there is no way I would ever recommend OnStar!!! I have called several times and the most frustrating thing is reading these comments posted from hours, days, months, and years ago that are having the EXACT SAME ISSUE, yet when speaking to an advisor, they act as if this is the first time they’ve ever heard of the issue. Now I’m even more frustrated seeing that I will likely be waiting additional time for a part that is in high demand due to failure!! Why is this not a recall!?!?- blwallisNew Contributor
I am frustrated to because mine is doing the same thing and there is no idea when the module will be available for my car. It is not On stars fault that this issue is happen as It is an issue with the car itself. I contacted On star and they were very helpful. When I told them the issue, right away they told it has been happening to a lot of the 2025 vehicles due to an update issue with the module.
I hope this was helpful

I would like to know if this issue has been fixed. I do have issues with a very resent purchase of a used 2025 GMC Acadia and found the On Star future didn't work; no navigation, no GPS and no On Star help plus no wifi. I hope to have it taken care next month.
Hope everyone got helped!

Well, got my On-Star system (tcm module) checked Monday, they said they're going to order one, maybe come in next week. Hopefully, it does! Can't wait!

So, got the TCM replacement but still no On-Star. Now, waiting in line just like the rest of you all. No ETA on the other or should I quote the shop's dealer agent "Don't know when this module will be in". So, I like to have access to maps and wifi while traveling. I know I can use my phone but there's no On-Star incase an emergency arrises. Hope very soon!!!

FWIW, recent class action lawsuit against GM was represented by DiCello Levitt LLP and Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C. I believe they've made about $66M off that litigation.
I'm going to contact both firms, and see if they'd like to start another one.- Tab37New Contributor
have you got in touch with the firms i’d like to follow suit this is ridiculous!

2025 Chevy Equinox EV. 9 months later. Same exact problem. How is there no class action lawsuit / forced buyback program yet?

Can your team ensure that part seemingly going out on hundreds of vehicles isn't backordered for weeks or months, so my vehicle can be repaired the day it's diagnosed?
- joh34New Contributor II
Same here for my 25 Blazer EV. And for those of you who don't know this, the Blazer and Equinox EV shipped with an infotainment system that has NO CarPlay or Android Auto. What that means is that we have ZERO navigation system options at all. And more concerning for us, no ability to easily plan routes that may require charging stops.
Without those capabilities we are basically driving $60,000 golf carts.
But don't worry, the advisers keep telling me they will contact the dealer....
This is likely my last GM product, and I have ONLY driven GM my entire life.- joh34New Contributor II
Update. My OnStar module repair was completed, just short of 30 days without service. Car is now, at least, functioning as it should.
