Onstar Module Needs Replaced
I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali that I had to take in for a dealer for them to tell me the OnStar Module needed replaced. My vehicle is over the 36,000 miles so they quoted me close to $750 to fix it. This $80k truck is only a year and a half old! Mileage should have nothing to do with this part. How is this not something that is covered by GM and/or OnStar? Especially after reading about so many other brand new trucks having this issue.

I am in the same boat, my 2023 Acadia's telematic (onstar) module is out and the dealer is got it from is saying i am SOL and have to pay for it out of pocket for a service that was supposed to be on my vehicle for 3 years not 36000 miles or less. And yet here we are after paying all that money for a vehicle and being told it has something it doesn't is ridiculous. Onstar or GMC should be fixing this not the consumer
I just purchased a brand new 2025 Yukon Denali and all the engine light came on 20 minutes after I left the dealership. Onstar has never worked since new. I took it straight to my local dealer to get it diagnosed. After paying $95,000 for a new car everything should work especially on the drive home from the dealership. GM has no ETA on parts and I am not accepting that response. Here we go with the buy back process.
I just purchased a new 2025 Tahoe Premier and engine light is on at 254 miles.

Mileage has nothing to do with the forced Onstar contact placed on 2023 models by GMC. The contract stated 3 years of service, there is no provision for a mileage limitation in the Onstar contract. GMC should supply a device that will provide the service for the contracted time frame regardless of mileage. Selling a 3-year non-refundable service implies 3 years of implied warranty of merchantability for the device supplying the service.
That does make sense! Mine started working on my 2022 Blazer, but our truck has something draining the battery 2023 $80000 vehicle! New battery, checked 5 times now, towed in, wouldn't even jump. What the heck is wrong with these trucks?
After having my telematics module replaced yesterday and talking with the service department, these vehicles do not "jump start" like older vehicles. You have to leave the jumper cables attached for awhile and let the battery build up a charge.
The first time my 2023 Sierra Denali was dead (the one with the bad telematics module), it took 20 min of having the cables connected to my 2024 Sierra AT4X before the Denali would start.
Yep, still having to pay out of pocket ($750), waiting on the part with no eta, and losing out on the onstar services that have been paid for... Doesn't seem like Onstar really cares since they're owned by GM. Onstar emailed me but it basically stated, sorry you're upset and out of warranty on your 1.5 year old truck, good luck working with the dealer. Then mentioned calling them if I wanted to discuss it more.
I would call if I knew I wouldn't be wasting my time. Last two times I've called Onstar I was put on hold for almost 2 hours, and hung up on one of those times (and not called back).

This happened to me. 2023 Yukon AT4 with 17.5k miles. Nothing works: no wifi, no maps, no vehicle info, no onstar. Dealer says no eta on replacement onstar module. This is frustrating and ridiculous. I am now paying for onstar and cannot receive service. In addition, there is no timeline to fix this.
Call Onstart directly and they can delay the payments for up to 6mo. while you wait for the replacement. We had to do this with our 2018 Silverado because we had all kinds of issues shortly after purchasing it. OnStar was willing to delay the payments once we let them know there was no ETA for the part we needed, leaving us without a vehicle to drive. Therefore they allowed the delay and checked in at the 6mo for a parts update, which by that point we no longer wanted it.
