2025 equinox ev- OnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable

I recently bought equinox ev 2025. In 5th month of use, telematics system stopped working. Dealership mentioned that part is nationwide back ordered with no estimated date. And i saw on many portals where same issue has raised by many car owners. Is this normal to have this part back ordered with no estimated date. And if GM knows the problem with this part, why are they selling such cars. Is there a way to raise this concern with any federal department?

My family bought 2 equinox ev's... a few months later it updates. And suddenly so far for 5 months the telamatics on star module that controls MOST of the cars is completely useless. Finally got one fixed it took 2 months to get the module now in the middle of having the second one doen and its going to be another 2 months. I AM PISSED. Should have been a recall since the update that corrupted it was from OCTOBER OF 25. ABSOLUTELY UNNACCEPTABLE

My OnStar’s been out since January 2026.  Called 2 dealerships, got the same answer….nationwide back order.  What does that mean????  Just make more for crying out loud!

Hey… my OnStar module has been out since 2024!!! Still haven’t gotten it fixed… 2 YEARS my Buick is useless without the features this MODULE controls.  I’ve written about this on many other threads over the years, I’ve reached out to government agencies, spoke to GM reps in headquarters, reached out to State Attorney General… It’s an outrage that this isn’t covered under LEMON LAWS because this module controls many SAFETY FEATURES in the vehicle not to mention WIFI and CONNECTIVITY.  Good luck trying to get it fixed at no charge if you are out of your POWERTRAIN warranty… So that means after 36,000 miles this car became USELESS.  Speaking to OnStar was my FIRST DEAD END because they did NOTHING to fix or help the situation… Just wanted to give you a heads up on what to expect from these people.  Just waiting now to gather enough DOWN PAYMENT to go into something else… I’m thinking TOYOTA is the way to go!

This is currently happening to me. I traded my 2023 Sierra on a used 2025 Sierra EV last week and was not able to setup OnStar after multiple attempts. Onstar green light is solid but it doesn't connect. Dealer I bought it from diagnosed a bad telematics module yesterday (6/18) and placed part order. I also found a Service Bulletin issued May 26, 2026 that stipulates dealers are not to sell any new or used vehicle with this issue.  Obvious the dealer I traded with is ignoring this communication from GM.  Very frustrating experience since without Onstar the on the road EV related features do not work like navigating to charging stations or estimated charge on arrival.  Given the posts in this forum I don't have confidence my wait for a fix will be short.
