I’m having a very frustrating issue.
I have a 2017 GMC Sierra, I have the onstar package so I can use the remote start app myGMC.
I work at a remote site and fly into work. I work week on week off, so I park my truck in the parkade at the airport around 4:00PM on Wednesday. The following Wednesday I fly home from work and would be starting my truck around 10:00PM.
This worked with no issues for several years… but for the last couple years, my remote start app has stopped working everytime I fly home. This is super frustrating because the biggest reason I got the remote start was so I could warm up my truck before I got to it. I live in Canada and it gets really cold. I park in the same area and level of the parkade all the time. I’ve even tried parking on the uncovered roof of the parkade.
I will park my truck at the parkade, get out and test the remote start app and it works fine. I have tried starting my truck while at work, and it works fine. Right up until the day I fly home it will work. But on the day I fly home, on day 7, the remote start app doesn’t work I have to get in a cold truck.
Is there some sort of battery saver that stops the onstar module from working after not being started for several days? Does it only activate after the truck reaches a certain age? I have no idea what changed because I park in the same place I always have. It worked fine for 3-4 years. But the last couple years it just decided to not work for me. It enrages me everytime I land and try to start my truck from my phone.
Does anyone have any ideas?
