OnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable
my 2025 Equinox EV (4000 miles) also has a failed Telematics module (as of 2.1.25) with a "backorder" status and dealer has no idea when it'll be in. Not only does it affect OnStar, but gps/maps/charger near you dont work either. You have to guess and figure it out manually. The car thinks I'm hundreds of miles from where I actually am and doesn't change location. When I bought my 2018 Chevy Bolt in August of this year, I was told I would be able to access my State of Charge for my car remotely using the My Chevy App. I was able to do that for three months while using my free On Star trial and was told by my On Star rep and via messenger with a Chevrolet representative that I’d be able to continue to access SOC even after my subscription expired. When the trial expired, the app no longer shows state of charge. I’ve talked to OnStar, the Chevy EV Concierge, and even my dealer trying to get this fixed. The dealer has submitted all of my vehicle info to OnStar. OnStar refers me to Ev Concierge. The Concierge refers me to the dealer. The dealer refers me back to Onstar! It’s been a huge source of frustration. I don’t want to pay for an Onstar package simply to monitor a most basic and vital component of owning an EV - being able to see how much charge I have. NO ONE seems to be able to resolve this short of trying to sell me something. I’m thinking On Star is just a money grab and GM, being its owner is the same. I love my car but hugely dislike the way I’ve been treated in this situation. I was promised EV Remote access for 5 years and 10 years of Connected Acess (which seems like a way for GM to mine my vehicle data but really not allow me to do anything with the app.). Anyone in a similar situation with a Chevy Bolt. Until about 2 or 3 years ago, I used to be able to get text messages on the MyLink screen on my 2015 Chevy Equinox, when my iPhone was connected via BlueTooth. In BlueTooth, I have the option to enable notifications turned on. About 2 or 3 years ago, this stopped working. At the time, I was using an iPhone SE, and thought maybe it had something to do with the phone. But now I have the same problem with a brand new iPhone 16. Did an iOS update a few years ago break this feature, with no way to fix it? Or am I doing something wrong? I have been trying for 7 months to cancel the data/wifi service. Every month they tell me it has been canceled and they are sending me a refund, but yet the charges keep coming. Now they have finally stopped the service but no refund and the monthly charges keep coming. I am hoping this gets resolved quickly. We are moving across country, near 3000 miles away in 30 days. Now our truck is stuck at the dealership with this part not able to be replaced and on back order. Our home is sold, we need to leave without a vehicle. What the hell??? Apparently our 2022 Silverado 4×4 Z71 is not driveable at all. It is affecting all the lights on the dashboard and the power steering is hard to turn. Had to leave it there. We have case with GM started but this is costing us Money$$$$$$ just like everyone else with this issue. We paid way over $60,000 to have a truck fail with 40 thousand miles on it. I have an iPhone and for the past 2-3 yrs the text messages feature was greyed out. I’ve disconnected the phone repaired it. Show notifications and still nothing. Then the wifi issues have been for the past 3 months. If my phone is connected just to the wifi itself it’s slow but goes at a decent speed. If I have my Bluetooth and wifi connected it is dial up slow. As far as I can see the wifi has been an issue for even the newer model cars. I discovered yesterday that the Weather Channel app has been discontinued. I'm not happy about this! I use this app constantly. It's really the only add on app that I use in the car. I love it when I'm driving long distances alone and I need to check the weather. It's so much safer to look at the radar quickly on the screen vs trying to pull it up on my phone while I'm driving. I live in the Midwest and the weather can change quickly, especially in the spring and summer. OnStar is about being safe in your vehicle. I can't think of any apps that they offer that are more important to safety than the weather app. Please bring it back! I will definitely pay a little extra to have the app. It's important to me and my safety! I called OnStar yesterday to let them know my concerns about this decision. I have a 2025 Tahoe with a OnStar One Super Cruise Plan with Connected Plus Unlimited Data Plan. My head unit and Rear Seat Entertainment all have data. However, when you connect a phone or tablet to the in-vehicle hot spot I get no data. The connected devices complain there is no Internet on the hot spot. Any ideas? Per my dealer, there are over 900 communication modules on backorder in the system with no ETA as to when they will be available. Don’t know if that is just for Chevy, or if it involves other brands also. I am in my fifth month and truly frustrated. Is over 900 waiting not enough to warrant GM to do something? Perhaps if they put as much effort into fixing this as they do in sending me renewal emails (my plan expired last month), they might make some progress. What do others think? Has anyone been offered any “compensation” for their trouble? My rep told me in an email that once fixed could discuss; but that seems like just a tactic to pacify me in hopes that I will go away. They sold me features and services that I couldn’t/can’t use. There should be some restitution for that. A year of free service? I am thinking at a minimum for every month it is down, there should be 2 months of credit; but honestly that may not be enough to keep my goodwill as a customer for over 40 years.
