On Star module
I have a 2023 GMC Denali and the Onstar Module stop working over a month now. Took it to the dealership the ordered the part but they have not received or have an ETA on the part since. What is the deal with this part that is is so difficult to order?

I’ve had my Equinox EV 6 months and I’m pretty sure my OnStar module is failing. Vehicle is showing to be up to 30 minutes away from where it actually is. OnStar button doesn’t work, the app doesn’t communicate with the vehicle now for more than 24 hrs and I wasn’t able to charge at a Tesla station tonight… couldn’t control it from the app or the headunit. Only way I can charge is to plug into my wall outlet at home. Over an hour on the phone with OnStar two nights ago with no improvement with a promise to be contacted by a level 2 rep the next afternoon that never happened. Pissed beyond measure now. Scheduled a dealer visit next week where I bought it because the dealer 10 minutes from my house has refused to do past warranty work on my vehicle because I didn’t buy it there.

I recently purchased CPO 2022 Tahoe LT from the dealership. I went to do the welcome call and button wasn't illuminated. I called onstar and they tried to trouble shoot and then told the sale person a diagnostic test needs to be ran. I went back to the dealership. The dealership said the module needs to be replaced and its on backorder so they arent sure when the problem will be fixed. I agree with many of these comments that GM should issue a recall on this. I have a 2021 HD 2500 Silverado and dont have the issue with that vehicle.

I am having the exact same issue as all above, 2022 Escalade. I'm late to the game, I guess. I just realized that the module has not been working for 12 MONTHS. And I've been paying the monthly service fee. Dealer is telling me it will cost $850 to replace. I am not willing to pay that, and it seems it's not actually available anyway. Onstar customer service is telling me they don't do refunds beyond the time I notified them. For as much as we pay for the vehicle with these advertised features, this is not acceptable.

Same issue with 2022 GMC Yukon Denali - module stoped working shortly after purchase and it took 6 months for a new one to available, finally replaced in mid-2023. We are back in again with the same issue, module crapped out again. So frustrating.

I am having the same issue as everyone else here. I noticed a check engine light then no wifi. OnStar buttons would not work in vehicle. Called on star and they could said my vehicle hasn’t moved in days (I was currently in my vehicle driving). Told me to contact a dealer. I have searched for the part but does not appear to be available to buy anywhere. I have a no gps icon on my infotainment screen. I do not think I should have to pay a dealer for labor to fix this when it is clearly a widespread issue with these modules failing.

I am also having the same problem with my 2024 Tahoe. I noticed that I had issues with the OnStar module since I purchased the vehicle. I would have to call and have it reset but when I reached 32,000 miles it stopped working completely the remote resets where just bandaids to the problem. What bothers me most is that both OnStar and the Chevy/GM dealerships act like it’s an isolated issue, knowing that it’s not and to get the replacement basically is never going to happen and if they do call to inform you that the part has arrived it’s not covered and we are out of pocket over $1000. I asked if GM would have some sort of recall and was once again told it’s an isolated issue. We all know that is just an escape-goat response. We choose to drive a vehicle that we pay good money for tto have features that work. I would like to know what GM is giving to do to address this issue for its paying customers.
I cancelled my OnStar subscription - will say thank you for proving a reimbursement backdated to when I called to report that the module stopped working completely. - ashleyljenningsNew Contributor
I am having the same issue on my 2023 GMC Yukon AT4. I took it to the dealer over a month ago. It was barely out of warranty. They still do not have an ETA for the part to ship to the dealership. This is beyond frustrating. I purchased this car because of the connected services and none of those are working. It’s also causing issues with my CarPlay. I am shocked. GMC has taken so long to get these parts in knowing there’s a lot of people needing it.

There is no ETA because the part is discontinued but they aren’t tell you (us) that. I am having all the same issues, including CarPlay, but the most frustrating part is that my time now will not update automatically and so I had to switch it to manually and now there’s typically a five minute lag in my actual time versus the time on my car. These cars are too expensive to go to junk so soon!

2022 GMC Yukon XL - onstar module died 6 months into owning vehicle...was replaced. Recently had the software update (recall) and now module is dead again. WiFi doesn't work, on star buttons dead, and now many features of my car don't work (speed limit signs, maps, google talk feature, etc). Part is discontinued...therefore never able to be fixed again. Honestly think this is the final straw after being a loyal GM customer for 20+ years.

Oh jeeze, I hope this isn’t the issue with mine. Same year, similar issues, back in the service dept today 🤦♀️

I had the same issue with my 2019 Bolt. Took the dealer about six weeks to locate the module from a dealer in a nearby state.
