On Star module
I have a 2023 GMC Denali and the Onstar Module stop working over a month now. Took it to the dealership the ordered the part but they have not received or have an ETA on the part since. What is the deal with this part that is is so difficult to order?

I have the same issue. The check engine light came on and was intermittent. I took it straight to the dealership when it went on and it took 4 days to diagnose only to find that the OnStar Module is backordered. Meanwhile I'm paying a monthly subscription. It sounds like this is happening to a large number of people. It seems unclear which safety systems this affects, but with now ETA it's very frustrating.

Our team can certainly understand your concern and subsequent frustration with having to wait for these parts to arrive for your OnStar services to function properly again, Jon. This is not the kind of experience that OnStar strives to provide for our loyal members. We would like to look into this further with you and see how we may be able to provide support and assistance to you throughout this process. Just wanted to chime in. Same exact issue. Through check engine light then discovered OnStar was out. Reconnected briefly and then has been out 3 weeks. Chevrolet Suburban Premier 2022. 12,000 miles. I didn’t get told any cost for repair but instead no part ETA. We drive with our kids and the WiFi was a convenient feature along with the connected apps. Shame on GM, Chevrolet and OnStar. There is no doubt this is a recall that needs to happen but they won’t call it because they can’t fix it. Surprise surprise. 86k car time to lawyer up Chevrolet cause a lawsuit is coming your way for damages and loss of safety features and the cost for me to trade this in for another non GM car. This is across all their makes. You guys are losing a lot of customers have fun with the next bailout.

2022 GMC Yukon XL - onstar module died 6 months into owning vehicle...was replaced. Recently had the software update (recall) and now module is dead again. WiFi doesn't work, on star buttons dead, and now many features of my car don't work (speed limit signs, maps, google talk feature, etc). Part is discontinued...therefore never able to be fixed again. Honestly think this is the final straw after being a loyal GM customer for 20+ years.

Oh jeeze, I hope this isn’t the issue with mine. Same year, similar issues, back in the service dept today 🤦♀️

I have a 2022 GMC Denali Ultimate and the OnStar module has already failed with 10,000 miles on it. Took the dealer 4 days to diagnose. Now the problem is that this OnStar module used in soooo many GMC and Chevy vehicles is not available and no ETA as to eventual availability. And my forced OnStar subscription for a non-functioning unit runs out in 2025.
To further add insult, there are over 30 new GMC/Chevy vehicles with the exact same module needed sitting on the dealer's lot. To have a 2022 high$ vehicle with an almost new common part needed unavailable with no idea when the part will be available is ludicrous. Checking online, many folks with my new era vehicles have waited months for their OnStar module to become available.

I have a 2023 GMC Yukon Denali. The Onstar module failed. Dealer said its back ordered also. No time frame. This part controls a lot on the Yukon. No rear TV's, Speed limit, Onstar, maps, clock, ect. Onstar subscription is still going. Its sad to have a vehicle this nice and new and cant get a module. Any help?

I am having the same issue on my 2023 GMC Yukon AT4. I took it to the dealer over a month ago. It was barely out of warranty. They still do not have an ETA for the part to ship to the dealership. This is beyond frustrating. I purchased this car because of the connected services and none of those are working. It’s also causing issues with my CarPlay. I am shocked. GMC has taken so long to get these parts in knowing there’s a lot of people needing it.

There is no ETA because the part is discontinued but they aren’t tell you (us) that. I am having all the same issues, including CarPlay, but the most frustrating part is that my time now will not update automatically and so I had to switch it to manually and now there’s typically a five minute lag in my actual time versus the time on my car. These cars are too expensive to go to junk so soon!

I am also having the same problem with my 2024 Tahoe. I noticed that I had issues with the OnStar module since I purchased the vehicle. I would have to call and have it reset but when I reached 32,000 miles it stopped working completely the remote resets where just bandaids to the problem. What bothers me most is that both OnStar and the Chevy/GM dealerships act like it’s an isolated issue, knowing that it’s not and to get the replacement basically is never going to happen and if they do call to inform you that the part has arrived it’s not covered and we are out of pocket over $1000. I asked if GM would have some sort of recall and was once again told it’s an isolated issue. We all know that is just an escape-goat response. We choose to drive a vehicle that we pay good money for tto have features that work. I would like to know what GM is giving to do to address this issue for its paying customers.
I cancelled my OnStar subscription - will say thank you for proving a reimbursement backdated to when I called to report that the module stopped working completely. - Ddauth1New Contributor
I am having the same issue as everyone else here. I noticed a check engine light then no wifi. OnStar buttons would not work in vehicle. Called on star and they could said my vehicle hasn’t moved in days (I was currently in my vehicle driving). Told me to contact a dealer. I have searched for the part but does not appear to be available to buy anywhere. I have a no gps icon on my infotainment screen.

I do not think I should have to pay a dealer for labor to fix this when it is clearly a widespread issue with these modules failing.
