Onstar Module failed 200miles into ownership

We just bought a brand new, 2025 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate and this morning, a few hundred miles into ownership, the module failed. What a terrible experience. Six figure vehicle and we cannot use several features two days into ownership. Absolutely unacceptable. No supercruise, gps, internet, remote capabilities, nothing. We immediately called our gmc dealer and they placed the order for the telematics module but just like several other owners have experienced, its back ordered. Extremely frustrating experience

All these NEW 2025's with failures.  I'm curious.  It worked when you took delivery and just failed without ever having let the dealer touch it in ANY way AFTER you took delivery?  Most of the original failures that started appearing here all seemed to be related to a software update the dealer performed.  Presumably that update could only be performed at a dealer.  If OnStar is delivering over-the-air updates that's killing the units, that's ridiculous.

I believe these can automatically be done over wifi so does not have to be done at the dealership. My partner works at a dealer and is having major issues with a 2024 suburban. Found out it did an update over night then wouldn’t start. Seemed like a bad battery so they replaced it. Now it’s throwing codes like crazy and something about the modules. Sadly he didn’t even have this information. He is being blamed for doing something wrong and stressed out. He knows he did nothing, what he repaired has nothing to do with any of these parts. I felt so awful seeing him stressing I got in google to see what I could find and lo and behold I stumbled up this! Sure sounds like a lot of issues he has been having but much worse. I took delivery of my 2025 Tahoe last week. OnStar dead at the dealer before even driving off the lot. It is a shame because I waited for months to order SuperCruise, and it does not work with my non-functional OnStar, not to mention the myChevrolet app can't register either.  Dealer ordered telematics module, but is 'backordered' status just like everyone else reports. Very disappointing.

Yep me too. 2023 Silverado. No wifi, clock out and no google services. GM sucks. Got the run around from onstsr and the advisor on here. Same conclusion take to dealer and takes a month to get an appt. I don’t have time for this crap.

I just bought a 2025 Yukon Denali Ultimate 2 days ago and I too have this problem. To make it even worse, we bought a 2025 1500 Denali Ultimate in December with the same problem. We discovered the issue just few days later. On top of all of that, I traded my 2023 Yukon in for the Denali Ultimate because of this issue. This is really ridiculous.

Same problem with my brand new 2025 Escalade IQ. Definitely an Onstar issue.

Just carried my 25 Denali Ultimate truck with same symptoms. 3200 miles. 1 month old. Bummer. They have definitely got an issue. Can't get mine in shop until a week later. GM needs to get in front of this or alienate all your high dollar truck buyers. We expect these things to work for 90K.

Same exact thing happened to my 2025 Silverado High Country.

  • That’s incredibly frustrating, especially with a brand new vehicle. It's tough to deal with such issues so early into ownership, especially with a high-end model like the Yukon Denali Ultimate. Hopefully, the dealer can expedite the telematics module replacement, but it’s definitely disappointing to hear about the backorder. Wishing you a smooth resolution soon! Picked up my 2025 Sierra Denali Ultimate on March 24th.  Everything worked fine.   April second I speridically started getting "Service Driver Assist System"  But everything appeared to still work.  Today.  No internet,  no wifi,  no supercruise.  The onStar button is Red instead of green and does nothing when you push the button.  I drove it on and off all day, and I had the same symptoms every time I started it. the same popup about the "Service Driver Assist System."    I decided to see if my GMC app was working and see if I could remote start it, since Onstar isn't working in the car.   The app says everything is fine and starts the truck with no problem.  So I go out and get in the truck, and everything is working again. ???   Guess I will be calling the dealer on Monday.  I've had the truck for 12 days and have 450 miles on it.

  • This is not the ownership experience that we strive to provide. Thank you kindly for sharing these details with our team regarding your OnStar module. We understand this situation is far from ideal, and we would like to assist to the best of our abilities alongside your certified GMC dealership. Kindly email socialmedia@gm.com with OnStar Community/DB1989 in the subject headline. We hope to hear from you soon.

Same has happened to me. I’ve taken it to the dealer and spoke to customer service for GM and have gotten nowhere.
You would think they would try to expedite this considering it’s a common problem
