When can i receive an updated Onstar module?
- my question is i have had a problem with the Onstar telematics module on my 2023 silverado 1500. i took it in when i began noticing that there was no longer any activity or wifi form the truck and then went to get it diagnosed. was told that i needed a new module. but there is a back order on that.

I have tried using the chat function in support and have been transferred several times with the same line, "due to the nature of your inquiry i am transferring you to another department who can better assist". The next person comes on and cannot help. This is a revolving door. The frustration of no assistance in GM and even worse with the information that we receive from the dealerships has gotten out of hand. There is absolutely no accountability in this failed module. How can this have been happening for the last couple of years and there aren't any in stock across this entire country? The reliability issues is causing more than problems than just money and that is a big part of it. Time and sometimes the lack of a loaner due to a manufacturing issue. In my case, the check engine light is on and was told due to the module causing communication issues. Who in this world wants to ride around with a check engine light on with a vehicle that has a warranty?

I want to report that I received a call from the dealership last week that a new Onstar module had come in and can be installed on Monday. This morning I had it installed and everything seems to be working as it should. However, this problem that GM has caused and has failed to take accountability for is costing all of us who have past their warranty. I do have an extended warranty for the powertrain, but this module is not covered. With the many hundreds of vehicles that are without their new onstar module and the failures that caused it, should be a cost incurred by GM rather than the customer. We have already paid for the vehicle, and the service that goes along with the subscription for Onstar, but we are obligated to pay for a replacement or pay the deductible from a 3rd party warranty provider such as Ally. This isn't right and should be corrected. I will still be a willing participant if a class action lawsuit were to occur.
