Onstar Module Needs Replaced
I'm dealing with this now. I spoke to an OnStar rep awhile back who gave me a ticket number and a GM Service Bulletin number and told me replacement of the OnStar hardware would be covered under the recall since my warranty is out. The dealership said that is incorrect and I have to pay for the repair. The fact that this hardware is failing at the 3 year mark is ridiculous and the fact that OnStar isn't paying for this is even more ridiculous. Not only is it a widespread issue, we pay for monthly OnStar service, so this should give some sort of coverage outside of the vehicle warranty. OnStar offered me 3 months of service as compensation for my trouble. GM and OnStar need to DO BETTER for their customers!!! I'm considering buying a new vehicle, anything beside a GM product.
Update...I paid almost $1,000 to have the module replaced at a local dealer. The module was on backorder but came in within about a month. The dealer replaced it on the same day I dropped it off and it seems to be working perfectly now.

How old is your vehicle? 3 years? So, they did make you pay for the part? Did you have an extended warranty? I would think an extended warranty would cover it. Trying to figure out what to do with our 2023 Chevy truck, something is draining the battery frequently, maybe the On star from what I've seen on this blog.

From what I have read, there is an issue with phantom draining of batteries due to some of the faulty modules.

Exactly this! 2024 suburban went in for contamination in radiator. Vehicle was home maybe 3 days and then vehicle no start issue. Would not start when jumped and had to be towed to dealership. *** The repairs done should have nothing to do with battery issue. Should not be throwing tons of codes.
Found out they did recall on software update. It has been a couple days and they have not figured out what is wrong. I’m assuming tomorrow we will find out faulty modules that will need to be replaced due to the (recall) update.

Lucky! Glad you were able to get fixed. Unfortunately, for most, the wait continues.
