Weather Channel app not working

I‘m subscribed to the OnStar Preferred Plan. The other day I tried to access the weather channel app. I get this message “The weather channel app for Android Auto is being discontinued “.  I do not use android auto.  I called OnStar yesterday and was told there is a glitch in the Access app part of my subscription. They transferred me to the  loyalty dept.  They removed the plan from my account and added it back. That did not resolve the problem. I called back this morning and spoke  to the same person in the loyalty dept.  She transferred me to the  Connection Center.  They couldn’t help me after having me force stop the app. They opened a ticket to have Tech Support contact me.
Can someone look at the notes that each department took and what they did at their end and had me do to resolve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Every day, Onstar becomes less and less useful. I used the weather app daily. One more reason to cancel my subscription. I have been a loyal GM vehicle purchaser for 40 years. Maybe it's time to look and see what the other manufacturers offer.

I just bought a new Subaru, which comes with the weather channel app and much better infotainment system.

Gm: it's 2025. Get with the program ir get left behind. Provide what your custo.ers want. That seems like a no-brainer.

With the deletion of the Weather App, I'm probably going to cancel my Onstar subscription. That was the primary reason I kept it, to be able to check the weather/radar, etc.

What's the app recommendation from OnStar?  Perhaps I don't need OnStar either.

My weather app in OnStar is not working either.  I have talked with OnStar several times and they finally told me to take it to a dealer and have them update the software.  Then they called back and said the weather app was decommissioned.  I did not want Onstar to begin with but the dealer told me  it was a MANDATORY option and I paid $1500 for something I did not want and the only thing I used it for was the weather app which now is not available.   Clearly it is the last GM product I will ever purchase.

My weather channel app just disappeared off my infotainment. Looks like the weather channel app decided to discontinue offering their app for gmc :( every day we lose more and more really disappointed.

I can also confirm that this was removed from OnStar today as well.  Interesting enough, the backup camera had a small glitch in the center of image during this time as well.  Its gone now.

We do understand your position. Thank you kindly for sharing this experience with our team. We have further documented it for internal review. With this, the Weather Channel has decided not to continue to provide this application so it will no longer be available. There is no plan in place to bring back The Weather Channel, but GM always looks to provide unique experiences to their customers, so another weather option may be considered at a future point.

Helen - if The Weather Channel has decided to discontinue the app, what do you mean for your “internal review”?  That means nothing to the customer base that was using it, and like someone had mentioned in another post, just more lost functionality.  I’m glad I have a vehicle that still allows for CarPlay or Android Auto, unlike GM’s very public position that they are not supporting that anymore?  Did that decision go through and “internal review”?  Please do better than just providing a canned answer that satisfies your legal department.

I am really disappointed that they took it off. I have a 2020 AT4 and used the app daily. My wife’s 2022 Yukon XL Denali doesn’t have it and always thought that was odd since she has the new “android” base software. Guess I need to consider do I really need Onstar it now? Might just cancel Onstar on all 3 of vehicles now. Heck my wife’s Yukon just finished her 3 year plan and they can’t figure out why it can’t be turned back on. I can’t even renew it. Might be a sign to just leave it off.

I was wondering if Alexa was next. I still have it, but it doesn’t show as an app that I have downloaded.

However, I knew that they got rid of the my gmc portion. Meaning that I could no longer use Alexa to start my car. I’ve had to use the MyGmc app for that now.
