Paid $150 for OnStar Connect, nothing is working in car
Two days ago, my music streaming and navigation stopped working in my 2024 Lyriq. I assume the free OnStar plan that the car came with expired. Yesterday, I purchased the OnStar Connect plan for $150, which clearly says it includes music, navigation, and voice assistant, among other things. Today, all of those features still do not work. For example, when opening the default google maps navigation, I get a popup saying that a connected services subscription is required.
I spent all morning on the phone and then online chat with OnStar and both representatives were completely clueless and unable to help. They kept trying to sell me the connect plus plan, which includes wifi hotspot and extras, saying that I needed it for my navigation and music to work. I explained and re-explained over and over again that I had already purchased the plan for music and navigation, even sharing screenshots of my account that clearly showed the plan and what it included, but they continued to insist that I buy the more expensive plan. This was a truly horrible customer service experience and very frustrating.
Later, I called the EV concierge, and she was at least able to recognize that I had purchased the correct plan and that there was an issue, but her and the technical team were unable to resolve it after several troubleshooting steps. The case is supposed to be escalated and I am supposed to receive a call back in the next two days, but man, what a terrible way to waste a morning and my 1 year old $80,000 car still does not work after all of that.
