MyGMC Trailer Light Test
They have permanently removed it so I canceled my onstar because of it. They have a lame excuse that vendors often don’t want to renew like Alexa and weather which are gone. The lights are pure GM. It makes no sense but we are losing features and prices go up. Other brands are doing that too and it’s not right. Like BMW charging a monthly fee to use heated seats in some markets. Apparently customers don’t matter. So now whenever I hook up a trailer I have to have a helper to test the lights.

This response looks like an AI response. We’re talking to ourselves. Removing this feature was the wrong move. As features are removed the cost for the product remains the same. Remember when our Sierra foot pedals were height adjustable? As was the seat belt shoulder height? And on and on. Key features are removed every year. While the screen grows larger.

We’ll never know who made the decision or why. The trailering features in the mobile app were a differentiator for gm; obviously no longer.
No brand is perfect but as long as consumers don’t have alternatives we’ll put up with the decline in quality and features at an ever increasing cost.
Disappointed in GM’s lack of response to customer inquiry. To my knowledge, not only did they make no attempt to proactively notify existing customers of the intention to remove trailering features, they have never made a statement after the fact either.
