Permissions needed for MyChevrolet App (and probably all the My GMC apps)

Like many here, I have the issue of the vehicle status for tire pressure, miles driven, oil life, etc not updating. I am using Android version of MyChevrolet App on a Samsung smartphone.  I found that there was one additional Permission for MyChevrolet App on my Smart Phone, called "Car Information" that probably must be granted for the App to get/share the information from OnStar or wherever. Now, before you get your hopes up, this didn't solve the Status update problem for me, but maybe it will do something for some of you.  Here is a screenshot. of the Permissions setting. Just click on Car Information and enable it.

Maybe  one of the crack technical advisors can tell us more about the what this permission does for the App. I don't remember it ever being mentioned in all their trouble shooting steps of delete and reinstall the app, login, logout, blah blah blah.

  • Our team appreciates you providing this additional insight in regard to your concerns with getting your vehicle's updated status information within the app, Paul. For your awareness, we do recommend enabling all app permissions within your device and vehicle to ensure proper app functioning. Our team regrets to learn that this step hasn't allowed your status details to update within the app. At this time, have you attempted to perform a power cycle on your vehicle? If not, we've attached the steps below. If these difficulties should persist after completing this troubleshooting step, our team asks that you send us another message here to continue working through this together. We'll keep an eye out for your response.

    Detailed Power Cycle Process Steps:

Note:  If vehicle is not currently running (engine on, ignition on), the customer will need to start the vehicle and run for at least 15 seconds (30 max).

Note:  Only to be used, when safe for the customer to do so.

    1. Enter the vehicle and turn ignition on
      1. Move vehicle to an open, uncovered area, if not already
      2. Vehicle should run for at least 15-20 seconds
    2. Shut off vehicle
    3. Remove Key from ignition or Press start/stop button
    4. Open the driver’s door
    5. Only if Safe to do so, customer to exit vehicle
      1. Key FOB must also exit vehicle
    6. Close Driver's door
      1. All other doors, hatch, liftgate should also be closed
    7. Lock vehicle doors using Key FOB
      1. Key FOB must be outside of vehicle
    8. Critical Step:  Wait at least 15 seconds (Max 30)
      1. This allows time for the OnStar unit and other electrical systems to turn off
      2. At a minimum, the OnStar unit needs to turn off
    9.  Re-Enter the vehicle and turn ignition on
      1. Move vehicle to an open, uncovered area, if not already
    10. Vehicle should run for at least 15 seconds
    11. Retest

But Jack, if enabling this Permission(s) for the App is important, why have you and Advisor_Helen never mentioned it before in your trouble-shooting steps?
