Google Assistant on Android Auto over Built in

I just recently picked up a 2022 Sierra 1500 and one thing that is bothering me is when I use Android Auto and activate "Hey Google", it uses the built in assistant over the Android Auto one.  This is a problem because it'll give me an error saying that the App isn't installed like when I try to send a Whatsapp message.

To work around this, I have to manually press the microphone icon in Android Auto for it to use that one instead.

Is there a way to set that Android Auto Assistant as default when I say "Hey Google"?

I've also tried turning Google Assistant off in the dash and it didn't fail over to the Android Auto.

If you would like to disable the "Hey Google" command for Google Assistant, please follow the steps below:

1. Open the app launcher and tap the Settings icon.
2. Tap Assistant & voice input and then Assistant app settings.
3. Toggle Say Hey Google off

If you have any difficulties with this or continue to have difficulties using your Android Auto feature, please feel free to send us an email at socialmedia@gm.com with the subject line as ‘ATTN: OnStar Community/cderlago’ so we can reference back to this post.
