I use a routine on my Alexa device to open my garage door and start my vehicle daily while getting ready to leave for work. Within the last week, I noticed that I wasn't getting prompted for my PIN to start my vehicle, and getting a message from Alexa that it couldn't connect to My Chevrolet. This has happened before and I would just have to re-link my account in the Alexa app. When I tried to do that, it appears that the My Chevrolet skill is no longer available on Alexa. Has it changed to something else?

“We found that our members prefer to use remote commands in their vehicle mobile apps.”. ??? Not sure which survey I missed, but using Alexa skill was a great option. The app is not bad, but it’s easier to just use my vehicle key remote.

As a long time user of Amazon Echo devices who has built a home automation system around the Echo, I am very disappointed by this move. I live in Canada where temperatures routinely drop below -30 in winter. Daily, I would use my Amazon Alexa to start my car before I left the house. The skill was glitchy and I often had to re-enable it. Regardless, I relied on it. Yes, I can use my fob or my phone, but neither is as convenient as just asking Alexa to start my car. OnStar, I think you have made the wrong move here and have disenfranchised a not insignificant group of paying customers. Please reconsider your position. I will be re-evaluating my subscription to OnStar when it next comes up for renewal as I can honestly say this was the feature I used the most.

I love it when I pay for something and then a company takes something away. I am paying the same amount, but with less functionality. I am going to consider buying a 3rd party system that can do the same thing.

It’s all about trust. I may dispute business decisions like subcontinent CarPlay. Which is indeed a very stupid decision. Here GM trumpeted Alexa so I adopted and invested in part because of this feature. Now it’s gone. And the app is frequently broken or takes forever to connect. And this is the “corporate speak” answer. It’s crap and we all know it. And that’s how you break trust. Not sure if GM is in my list to replace my Denali this year.

To the moderator - thank you for the response. It is unfortunate that I will no longer be able to send remote commands from my home alexa devices. As I had mentioned, it was convenient for me because I had a routine setup in Alexa that would open my garage door and start my vehicle with one voice command. You mentioned that the Alexa built-in is still available, along with remote commands in the app. The app isn't always reliable as I have spotty service so I'd rather use the remote to remote start. The main reason I was paying for usage of the remote commands in the app was for the convenience of the alexa skill. At this point there is no reason to continue my subscription.

Adding my displeasure, on 9 degree mornings - such as this - the Alexa Skill was extremely convenient to be able to start my Equinox. The other car features (lock, unlock, etc) were very convenient as well. Having to fumble around with the phone, find the app, hold the button down is inconvenient. Please bring back the Alexa Skill!

Truly disappointed! There is no value for me to pay for remote access service when I can use my key fob. I just called and cancelled the plan.

Please know, OnStar has discontinued the vehicle mobile apps Skill feature for Amazon Alexa-supported devices. Our goal is to provide our Members access to OnStar, wherever they are. We found that our members prefer to use remote commands in their vehicle mobile apps. In response, we’ve decided to end the myChevrolet skill for Amazon Alexa. With this, the Alexa Built-in will not be sunsetting, and all in vehicle functionality will remain the same. Only commands from your home to your car will be sunsetting. If you have any other questions at this time, we would be happy to help.

Simply by asking Google Assistant, you can start, stop, lock, and unlock your vehicle by speaking. To make the magic happen, just start your voice command with “Hey Google, ask Chevrolet to…” followed by your request, such as “unlock my car” or “start my car.” If your Chevrolet account has multiple vehicles attached to it, Google Assistant will ask you which one you’d like to access.
I dont have a google device at home, anyone know if this still an available option?
