Can’t add owner acct to my family plan

My boyfriend already has the app and an account with OnStar and I recently got OnStar and they had me download the app and I’m the acct owner of my own plan. Me and him would like to be added as part of the family but all we can do is send each other a link to join our family but there is no place for either of us to input the code… how can we be part of each others family on the app?

If prompted to link an OnStar Account after accepting the email invite to accept Family Sharing, please select the "Skip Linking" option. Do not try to link the account using the Account Owner's credentials, as this will result in the Account Owner being sent an email that the family member is trying to link the Account Owner's OnStar Account to the Family Member's email.   • We appreciate you bringing this trouble with successfully adding yourself and your boyfriend to each other's OnStar accounts via the Family Sharing feature, Cindy. Our team recognizes how this concern has caused you frustration and assures you that we would be more than happy to assist with making sure that this difficulty is resolved.  As a first step, we'd like to gather some additional information and walk through some troubleshooting steps together to address this matter. Our team kindly asks that you follow the steps listed below before following up with us here to let us know whether this process was able to successfully resolve this concern for you. We'll be keeping an eye out for your response and hope to hear from you again in the near future. 

     

    1. Log into the myChevrolet Mobile App 
    2. Navigate to the Account Menu
    3. Select Family Sharing
    4. Select Invite Family Member
    5. After selecting Next, enter the name and email address of the person you wish to invite to your account.  Tap Next to continue. 
      1. The Account Owner should verify that the email address being enter is the email address the Family Member will want to use to access the myChevrolet app. The email address entered will be the Family Member's username. If the invited Family Member is also a GM Owner and has an online account with us (e.g. Online Account, myRewards, etc.) they should use their current email address for Family Sharing as well.
    6. Finally, the Owner must select the vehicle(s) they wish to share with the Family Member they are inviting.  Tap Next to continue.
    7. The confirmation screen will confirm the invitee's name, email address and the vehicle(s) being shared.  If you need to adjust any of the information, you can tap the back arrow in the upper left corner.  To complete sending the Family Member invite tap Send Invite Email.
      1. Sending a Family Member invite is a PIN protected activity in the myChevrolet app. The Account Owner must enter their PIN or use their fingerprint, if setup, after tapping the Send Invite Email button.
    8. On the final screen, you will get confirmation that the email invitation has been sent and a response from the invitee is pending.  You will receive an email once the Family Member has accepted the invitation and an additional email notifying that the vehicle was shared.

      This would be nice, if it worked. But it doesn't. My wife got the email, which conveniently is the last step shown here. When she clicks to accept the invite, she's taken to the myChevrolet app which asks for her OnStar account.
