Spoken directions on Apple Maps over BlueTooth / HFP on 2015 Chevy Equinox
Until about 2 or 3 years ago, I used to be able to get spoken directions from Apple Maps when listening to the radio on my 2015 Chevy Equinox, when my iPhone was connected via BlueTooth. It would interrupt the radio briefly to give the directions, and it would appear as if a call was active for a few seconds. There would be an option in Apple Maps to use "Chevy Equinox" as the output, rather than the dock connector. In looking online, it sounds like the feature I was previously using was called HFP.
About 2 or 3 years ago, this stopped working, since I could no longer find the option to control the audio output in Apple Maps. I have on the "Directions on Radio" setting, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Any advice, or does it just not work anymore? Thank you. At the time, I was using an iPhone SE, and thought maybe it had something to do with the phone. But now I have the same problem with a brand new iPhone 16. Did an iOS update a few years ago break this feature, with no way to fix it? Or am I doing something wrong? I can only get spoken directions if listening to music on my phone through the USB cable. It would probably also work if listening to music through BlueTooth. But I'm asking how to get it to interrupt the radio, which it no longer seems to have an option to do. Thank you.

It seems I don't get spoken directions anymore in the car even when connected via a USB cable and listening to music on the phone. Anybody have a solution? Everything I read online says I just need to turn on the "Directions on Radio" setting, but that doesn't work, and hasn't worked for about 2 years now.

Before I call, do you know if there was ever an update to the 2015 MyLink system? I should also mention that the spoken directions still work with Google Maps. Is one map program better than the other?

I called that phone number and it had been disconnected. It referred me to another number, but they were unable to help me.
