Bring back the weather app!
I discovered yesterday that the Weather Channel app has been discontinued. I'm not happy about this! I use this app constantly. It's really the only add on app that I use in the car. I love it when I'm driving long distances alone and I need to check the weather. It's so much safer to look at the radar quickly on the screen vs trying to pull it up on my phone while I'm driving. I live in the Midwest and the weather can change quickly, especially in the spring and summer. OnStar is about being safe in your vehicle. I can't think of any apps that they offer that are more important to safety than the weather app. Please bring it back! I will definitely pay a little extra to have the app. It's important to me and my safety! I called OnStar yesterday to let them know my concerns about this decision. I hope they decide to bring it back!

Most importantly, the weather channel app would sent alert notifications directly to the screen while driving. What are you doing GM? Removing the weather channel makes absolutely no sense. Its the most relied on app in the vehicle.

Majority of the apps within the vehicle are not even useful. The weather channel was and I used it everyday.

As GMC owners who pay for OnStar to provide access to app that GMC says are available for customers, it looks like we have been DOGEd. With that being said, the only reason I have the basic plan was for WC app and IHeart app. All the other apps including MAP+ are worthless and really are not worth a subscription. I also have the extended data plan. The only reason I got that was when I am driving in an area with marginal cell service, I can use the trucks wifi hotspot for cell instead of phone. External antenna is usually best for reception. I am now wondering if that thought process was bad. I am thinking of dropping OnStar at the end of this next billing cycle. I have not had the great experience with their service over the years and all I need is a key fob and Apple Car-net for most of what I need including Weather Channel and IHeart radio. Only thing I am stuck on now is the extended data plan. Not sure I need that. I do like the hotspot advantage though. Any thoughts from you other users.

We all are pissed they dropped the weather channel. It was an important feature to warn us of bad or life-threatening weather. All they have said is they dropped the app over a contract problem. Which probably just means that the weather channel wanted more money. First, we lost our phone service through OnStar now this. Makes us wonder just what we are getting for out money anymore.

Here is the sad thing about not having Weather Channel app anymore. If GMC was not so cheap and gave us the extended Sirius receiver in our vehicles, we could sign up for Siriux travel link like I did in my 2017 VW and have weather, road updates and numerous other travel link info for $80 a year. So, GMC, in order to sell this OnStar crap, you elected not to give us the extended Siruix xm receiver so we had to get OnStar to get travel and weather. What we pay OnStar only gives up marginal traffic updates, now no weather, and for a cost of $288/year. If I could update infotainment system to use the better Siriux xm receiver I would and totally dump OnStar. You got us by the nads for now, but if I find a way to upgrade my infotainment system to use the extended Siruix xm reciver, your gone and I will make sure to post the path here. The only Siruix xm service I use is the travel link product in my VW. Good product, better than OnStar for much less.

Let us ALL know how you make out. They didn't even give us a notice or a reason just here one day gone the next. If they can remove it so quick they sure an hell could restore it or give us an alternative.

I agree with others that the TWC app for weather was useful. If not TWC, replace it with something of equal value!. It drives me crazy that apps are removed or stop working because of a lack of effort on GM’s part. I use the Dash app as well (now Litt) and that app is not working correctly because it hasn’t been updated. Essentially I have a vehicle that is less than two years old and I’m stuck with an infotainment system that is already losing functionality. Come on GM, you can do better than this!!

Yes they need to bring it back! This weekend was full of bad weather tornadoes etc! It would have been nice to have a working weather app on my car!

Why did they take it away? I loved it and we used it every day multiple times. I couldn’t figure it out either until I found this post. Please bring it back. All the other apps are nothing compared to the weather app.

I love the weather channel app it was very helpful. How can GMC removed it with no notice. It is the beginning of the tornado season. I want it back. Onstar always said he safe out there. This is one of the most important app to have in a vehicle.

And they never even let us know. Just turned it on and it was gone. I did put on the weather channel emergency alerts on my Sirrus radio. But it does not compare. And they haven't even given us a reason why they dropped it money or just contracts.

I total agree and was extremely disappointed by GM/Onstar that they removed a valued app that I relied upon. I used the radar feature every time I drove; winter or summer relying on that feature to plan driving routes to avoid severe weather. What made it even worse was this was done with no notice to us, the Onstar customers. I only used only the Spotify app and the Weather Channel app so Onstar, please provide some sort of weather app with a radar feature!
