How to report Super Cruise map errors?
We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your Super Cruise and recent OnStar experience, Dave. Our team does regret to hear of any miscommunications and would like to apologize for any frustrations caused. With this, we would like the opportunity to provide some additional context to your Super Cruise map concerns.
The Super Cruise driver assistance technology uses precision LiDAR map data, a driver attention system, real-time cameras, sensors and Global Positioning System (GPS) to maintain automatic control of vehicle steering on compatible roads. The GPS uses map data to determine the vehicle’s location while the Lane Sensing Camera detects the marked lanes on the road to help the vehicle automatically steer and maintain lane position. Super Cruise can also only be used on limited-access freeways that are separated from opposing traffic and accessible by entrance and exit ramps only.
Super Cruise map information is automatically updated periodically. Automatic updates via OnStar will occur on a quarterly basis to ensure the latest Super Cruise road availability is provided. In the event that a map update is not completed within seven months, Super Cruise will be disabled. In order to get Super Cruise working again, the Member must visit the dealer to have a new map update downloaded to the vehicle. The vehicle’s Wi-Fi hotspot must be turned on to receive automatic updates via OnStar.
