OnStar needed for key fob to work?
I was going to cancel my OnStar over a year ago and was told if I cancel it completely my key fob will not work. I got the cheapest plan at $8 a month. Is this true? Do I need them for the fob to work or have they lied all this time. I cant even get to my account online to see.
If you are referring to your physical key fob, no, you do not need an OnStar plan, and it will continue to work without one. Should you be referring to the mobile app key fob, yes, you will need an applicable OnStar plan to remotely lock and unlock your vehicle.
