Charged $15/month for an OnStar data plan I never authorized—and you can’t even cancel online
Has anyone else dealt with unauthorized recurring charges from OnStar?
I just noticed I’ve been getting billed $15 every month for a standalone vehicle data plan that I never signed up for, consented to, or used. To make matters worse, when you log into your GM / OnStar account dashboard to manage subscriptions, there is zero option to cancel the plan online. The portal conveniently directs you to call customer support or press the blue button in the vehicle just to stop recurring charges for a service you didn’t ask for in the first place.
Having to wait on hold to remove a phantom charge that shouldn't exist is textbook dark pattern behavior.
Did customer support push back or try to retain you when you called to cancel?
Were you able to get a full refund for past billing cycles without doing a credit card chargeback?
For those who escalated, did filing an FTC or CFPB complaint get any traction?
Any tips on the fastest route to reaching a representative who actually has the authority to issue refunds rather than bouncing you through retention scripts would be appreciated.
