Concern Regarding the Removal of the Weather Channel App
I am reaching out to express my disappointment over the recent removal of the Weather Channel app from the OnStar services in my GMC truck. This app has been an invaluable resource, offering dependable, real-time weather updates that are crucial for ensuring my travel safety and effective trip planning. As a loyal GMC and OnStar customer, I have come to greatly appreciate the convenience and practicality this feature provided. Its removal has unfortunately had a negative impact on my overall driving experience. I kindly urge you to reconsider this decision or to introduce an alternative solution that delivers the same level of reliability and accessibility.

YES! Please bring back SOMETHING that will give us weather and radar alerts.

We own two GM vehicles (2024 Enclave and 2023 Traverse) and use the weather app whenever we travel and have been very disappointed to discover it has been removed and hope that it will be brought back… more useful than an NPR app…

Yes. I miss this app. We use it a lot. If you can't come to terms with Weather Channel, there is surely someone else who would like to ride along and get my attention. The. app helped me avoid a major hail storm last year.

When comparing vehicles to purchase and spend the next 5 years paying on, the weather channel at my fingertips was a big pro on my list. To see this feature removed 2 years after buying the car was disappointing. I probably wont renew my onstar plan unless its less than what I paid having the weather channel. No way am I paying the same price for less features. It expires at the end of june.

Now that you remove the app from my truck, which is one of the main reasons why I bought a GMC I am seriously considering no longer purchasing a Chevy product
it was a very valuable tool for my safety and enjoyment if I could purchase it, I would but even that’s not available- Advisor_JackModerator
These are never the sort of sentiments that we like to hear expressed about your experience with your OnStar services in the GMC that you love and depend on Mark. Our team extends our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this has caused. The Weather Channel's has decided not to renew its contract with GM regarding the application developed specifically for GM vehicles. In the meantime, if you are utilizing Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you may consult these platforms for any weather-related information. If there is anything further that we may assist you with, please don't hesitate to send us another message here. We're always here and happy to help.

Why did they choose not to renew? How much more was GM demanding to keep it on our vehicles infotainment systems? I'm willing to bet that it was GM that caused TWC to pull thier product from our vehicles. It's bad enough that GM is making record profits off the backs of their customers but to force your partners to exit your platform because your greed is stronger than your common sense leaves me perplexed! Just a reminder to the decision makers...its the little things that make the biggest differences and trust me when I say that your decisions to remove these little things from your vehicles WILL result in an even bigger profit loss than what you were making before you got greedy and forced TWC (and I'm sure many others will follow) to leave your platform!

We appreciate your feedback, Leaner. Please know, The Weather Channel has decided not to renew its contract with GM regarding the application developed specifically for GM vehicles. There is no plan in place to bring back The Weather Channel, but we are always looking for ways to provide unique experiences to our Members. With this, another weather option may be considered at a future point. Thank you for your understanding.

I’m so sick of GM, Ford, Dodge, price keeps going up quality keeps going down, I too liked the weather app. Sure shift the blame to weather channel. You can come up with alternatives. I reached my limit, not because of some app, but because GM like pretty much every us Automaker has gone to far towards profit mentality, and could care less about customers. This has been building for years. I feel sorry for you having to work for this company, I know you have no control over anything at GM, but they stick you in front to deflect the results of their horrible decisions. Regardless GM gets burned about every 10-15 years, they take a beating, bribe congress for favorable policies, and slowly drift back into the same cycle, I assume which likely correlates with each executives tenure. That’s ok, internet is slowly improving the memory of the masses.

I am concerned as well. Living in Florida and having to evacuate numerous times from the west side of the state, we depended on the weather channel radar to show us where the storms were going so that we could get out of the way when we got on the road. It was one of the reasons I liked GM vehicles all these years that the weather channel has been available.

I’m so sick of GM, Ford, and all the Dodge/jeep junk. Prices keep going up quality keeps going down, I too liked the weather app. Sure shift the blame to weather channel. You can come up with alternatives. I reached my limit, not because of some app, but because GM like pretty much every US Automaker has gone to far towards profit mentality, and I know they could care less about customers unless you are buying a fleet of 500 trucks or something. This has been building for years. I feel sorry for you having to work for this company, I know you have no control over anything at GM, they just stick you in front to deflect the results of their horrible decisions. Regardless GM gets burned about every 10-15 years, they take a beating, bribe congress for favorable policies or a bailout, and slowly drift back into the same cycle, I assume which likely correlates with each executives tenure. That’s ok, all the historical data on the internet is slowly improving the memory of the masses. Eventually enough people will come to realize how much they are being taken advantage of, that the government can’t save GM. Same goes for ford and all the dodge crap, which I have never personally owned but hear they are probably worst. Best of luck!! I think I may go back to a beemer, I can get a loaded out 5 series, for what I pay for a basic Chevy truck. I had 4 while I was in college and before kids and never had a single problem.
