GM needs an app strategy that is connected to buyers
I also read the posts about the Weather Channel app going away - like others, I used this app extensively. And it's funny - my 14-year-old Infiniti HAS a weather app, so this is NOT a ground-breaking feature.
Regarding GM apps in general - and we own several cars in our family with "apps" - GM's app feature is a negative for the brand. The interface is clunky, and the offerings are poor. At least we have Sirius/XM, Spotify, and Pandora - but GM has announced those are going away as well so Mary Bara can increase GM's "subscriptions." Huge mistake - and out of sync with the rest of the market. Volvo - tons of free apps, standard. Infiniti - tons of standard free apps. Jaguar - not so much but still free. Our GMC - we have to PAY for Navigation (or OnStar features like traffic go away). When it's time to replace this truck, I'll look at other manufacturers beyond GM - love the truck but if I can't use the apps I already have on my phone, that could make Stellantis' trucks more attractive.
AND......if GM can't make enough money selling a $90+K truck on its own - and has to make basic things paid-for subscriptions - they face a tough road ahead. I've also had to resort to customer support - several times - when our system has crashed or failed. Thankfully OnStar HAS customer support, but none of the rest of our cars have needed that assistance, either.
