Vehicle Status is Broken
The vehicle status feature of the myChevrolet app is broken and has been for the 8 years I’ve owned my Volt. It rarely ever works. The remote lock/unlock and start functions work reliably, so clearly the app is communicating with my car through OnStar. BUT, when it comes to fetching my vehicle status so I can see things like my current charge state, the app throws error, after error, after error. If I’m stubborn enough to just sit here and refresh ad nauseam, eventually an update may come through.
Please do not tell me to reinstall the app, restart my car, or any other nonsense. This is a problem with the app and OnStar that will not be fixed by consumers mucking around on their devices. I have little faith that after 8 years of this function being broken that OnStar will ever fix it, which is why I’ll be letting my service expire later this year. Really, I should demand my money back for these last two years of service, considering a primary function of the ‘remote access’ plan I have rarely ever works.
The attached photo shows the many failed attempts I just made to refresh my vehicle status. In this case, it took 8 tries before the app finally pulled data from my car. This is just ridiculous.

Tonight it took 13 refresh attempts before data was fetched.
