Bring back the weather app!
I discovered yesterday that the Weather Channel app has been discontinued. I'm not happy about this! I use this app constantly. It's really the only add on app that I use in the car. I love it when I'm driving long distances alone and I need to check the weather. It's so much safer to look at the radar quickly on the screen vs trying to pull it up on my phone while I'm driving. I live in the Midwest and the weather can change quickly, especially in the spring and summer. OnStar is about being safe in your vehicle. I can't think of any apps that they offer that are more important to safety than the weather app. Please bring it back! I will definitely pay a little extra to have the app. It's important to me and my safety! I called OnStar yesterday to let them know my concerns about this decision. I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali that I had to take in for a dealer for them to tell me the OnStar Module needed replaced. My vehicle is over the 36,000 miles so they quoted me close to $750 to fix it. This $80k truck is only a year and a half old! Mileage should have nothing to do with this part. How is this not something that is covered by GM and/or OnStar? Especially after reading about so many other brand new trucks having this issue.On Star module broken
I ahve a 2023 Chevy Tahoe RST and the on star module has failed. There has been no connection since 8/31/24. The dealer has said it is on backorder and no ETA when a new part will arrive. Has anyone even had their on star module replaced if having similar issue? This is very concerning and upsetting as I pay for the subscription and have also paid an annual subscription for wifi that doesn't work. The clocks in my vehicle are all off and am not getting full functionality of the vehicle I paid top dollar for. The car wouldn't start a week ago because it was sending low voltage signals to every system because of the faulty module. Luckily the dealer got it operational again but said they can't just disconnect it because that would cause too many issues. Very very frustrated here....Telematic Control Module needs replacement, but backordered with no ETA?! UNACCEPTABLE
My 2024 Equinox EV 2RS (Purchased brand new in November '24, only 1,568 miles on to-date) is now in the dealership for the third time due to what was thought to be a 12v battery problem. Turns out, it was a faulty Telematic Control Module that needs replacing, and the dealership that's working on it says GM has no timetable/ETA for the part?! The amount of posts on here reflecting how frequently this is happening should make GM want to have THOUSANDS of these parts on hand for immediate deployment, not arbitrarily informing dealerships, "There's no ETA." I'm a new mom and back to work for the first time since giving birth in October, and being unable to count on a vehicle to simply work is beyond defeating.OnStar Module Broke
Brought my 2023 Yukon XL with 38K miles in to fix a recall and when I got it back now my “telematic control module/OnStar module” is broken and needs to be replaced. Dealer is telling me it will cost $900 and they have no idea when the part would even be in? This is ridiculous, not only should I not have to pay for this, but it shouldn’t have broke and if it needs fixing it should be done immediately.WiFi Hotspot, No Connection to Internet
I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado, bought the thing used awhile back. The WiFi Hotspot has never worked, basically it will allow a device to join but does not actually route to the internet. I have had several other Chevy/GMC trucks where the WiFi/Onstar stuff worked fine, so I know it's possible. I have called onstar several times, today for the forth time to work out this problem. It is always exactly the same thing. Forget the network, leave the truck with the door open for a few minutes, jump through some other hoops. It always ends with, we have to open a ticket for their other support guys and they will call me back to let me know when the problem is fixed. Crickets... NEVER a call back, we have confirmed the call back number every time. From the customer service perspective this is pretty disgusting, make a commitment to a customer and fail to follow up on a service that has been paid for but non-operable. Every time the phone support guys focus on the toggle switch for "Share Hotspot Data" and the fact that it's impossible to toggle on, I'll attach a picture if the forum permits. Anyone know what that does or why it is there? The owners manual says nothing about this toggle. Maybe it's the problem but it makes no sense. Why would anyone want to toggle the ability to route to the Internet (or any other network) if you have already allowed the WiFi connection? Why would you connect in the first place if you didn't intend to go somewhere? Anyway, other network based apps work OK, Pandora, MyGMC, Weather, etc. Some kind of data routing is happening somehow, just not on WiFi. Anyone have any idea how to get WiFi routing to the net? Anyone know what the definition of this toggle switch is? Anyone know how to get past the first line guys and talk to someone who knows something?OnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable
my 2025 Equinox EV (4000 miles) also has a failed Telematics module (as of 2.1.25) with a "backorder" status and dealer has no idea when it'll be in. Not only does it affect OnStar, but gps/maps/charger near you dont work either. You have to guess and figure it out manually. The car thinks I'm hundreds of miles from where I actually am and doesn't change location. This is unacceptable in any vehicle, but especially an EV which relies on the information to travel
