Telematics Module failure after ~6 months (7+weeks and no estimate date for replacement)
I bought a 2025 Equinox EV RS since late May and in late October the telematics module failed. I took it into the dealership on November 11th and was told it needed replacement and the part was back ordered it now has been over a month and no updates. I called the dealer a couple weeks ago and was basically told "don't call us, we'll call you" because they had no ETA. I know a lot of people are dealing with this and it is extremely frustrating. The car was brand new and I put a lot of miles on it weekly due to my commute. Not having the Nav system working is so frustrating and stresses me out, again in a brand new car you do not expect these sort of headaches. I'm in RI but the dealer is in Massachusetts anyone else in the area experiencing this sort of wait time 5+ weeks without any movement on the part and no ETA?79Views1like2CommentsOnstar Module Needs Replaced
I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali that I had to take in for a dealer for them to tell me the OnStar Module needed replaced. My vehicle is over the 36,000 miles so they quoted me close to $750 to fix it. This $80k truck is only a year and a half old! Mileage should have nothing to do with this part. How is this not something that is covered by GM and/or OnStar? Especially after reading about so many other brand new trucks having this issue.purduecarter2 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II17KViews20likes101CommentsSupercruise:I80 in Sacramento has been turned off for 2+ years
Yeah, title says it all. 5 lane highway from the West Coast to the East. But once I hit antelope I get "supercruise unavailable, no road information". Highway 50 in Sacramento has been under severe construction. Supercruise works there. 4 lanes split and two lanes went into the oncoming lanes for a few miles, supercruise could be turned on in the oncoming lanes. All I would get it a caution construction reported warning. 50 seems to get updated for supercruise every few days. But 2+ years waiting for a highway with zero construction? Turn it on already.jarethsun2 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II116Views0likes15CommentsAnother Telemetrics module....
Another telemetrics module dies with no ETA for replacement. Frankly, after reading all the posts I'm not sure replacing the module with the same module is a great idea given all the posts about this module failing. We have a 2025 Chev Equinox EV. The module failed with less than 5k on the car. I think a huge step forward for GM is to communicate. Is it a design flaw or are we at the point where 4G service isn't viable and they need to upgrade to the 5G chipset? It is my understanding that this current version of module has been in use since 2015. Reading that several posts talk about this module failing multiple times, makes me wonder about airflow and heat around the module. GM needs to communicate with its customers en mass as to what it knows about these failures. What is the percentage of failure? They sold 2.7 million vehicles in 2024, what is the failure rate? Is it a design flaw, heat caused as example? Supply issue? I find this a little hard to believe but maybe its possible. What we don't need is are answers like: "we're sorry you're experiencing this issue."fdalbert2 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II259Views3likes14CommentsTelematic Control Module needs replacement, but backordered with no ETA?! UNACCEPTABLE
My 2024 Equinox EV 2RS (Purchased brand new in November '24, only 1,568 miles on to-date) is now in the dealership for the third time due to what was thought to be a 12v battery problem. Turns out, it was a faulty Telematic Control Module that needs replacing, and the dealership that's working on it says GM has no timetable/ETA for the part?! The amount of posts on here reflecting how frequently this is happening should make GM want to have THOUSANDS of these parts on hand for immediate deployment, not arbitrarily informing dealerships, "There's no ETA." I'm a new mom and back to work for the first time since giving birth in October, and being unable to count on a vehicle to simply work is beyond defeating.jamiekmiller6182 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor5.2KViews8likes71CommentsForgot security pattern to unlock admin profile in infotainment system.
At the initial setup of the admin profile for my 2023 GMC Sierra, I went with the security pattern option and made my mobile phone and trusted device. Aside from some Bluetooth issues it worked okay until there was a problem with the My GMC app crashing for 2 days. When I was finally able to access the app I discovered that my mobile phone was no longer a trusted device and that I could not get access to the infotainment system. I had used my phone as a trusted device for so long that I had forgotten the pattern I had used. I spoke to a couple of people with OnStar and all they could offer was to set up a new user profile and disregard the admin profile. This is not a good fix. Although I can use some of the features, many of the permissions granted to the admin are lost. This was not allow me to manage other user profiles and I am essentially a teen driver with limited capabilities. There has got to be a way to reset the infotainment system to factory settings whereas an admin profile can be set up again, or some backdoor in the programming that would give one access to an existing admin profile. I understand that there are security concerns for everyone who owns a GM vehicle, but there has to be some mechanism built in to reset everything. I assume that this is not a singular issue. I'd like to have the full functionality of my truck. Can someone please help!kenmorris112 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor378Views1like6CommentsAPPS not working suddenly
My 2018 Buick Enclave has been working just fine until I lost my Apps (specifically Pandora) last week. I pay for Wi-Fi Hotspot and extra data services. Now system shows download Icons and wants a sign in, which I never had before. My first contact with OnStar tech tried to tell me that my hardware was old and now they've identified a problem. First, this needs a FIX - why am I paying for extra services that are not working??? Anyone else in this situation?windsongrobbie2 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor87Views1like5Comments2025 Buick Enclave - Ongoing OnStar / Battery Drain Issue
Hi everyone, I’m posting to see if anyone else has been dealing with the same issue. I have a 2025 Buick Enclave that I purchased brand new about nine months ago. From the start, I’ve had recurring problems with the OnStar system and a total loss of power. The vehicle has repeatedly gone dead or failed to start. The dealer told me it’s related to a defective OnStar (telematics) module that’s been draining the battery and preventing the system from going into sleep mode. My Enclave has now spent over 30 days in the shop, and we’ve had a case open with GM for weeks — but there still isn’t a confirmed fix or part available. We have been enduring these issues while our brand new Enclave sits in the shop, and we have not received answers (from Buick or the dealer) for how it will be resolved. I wanted to share this in case other owners are experiencing similar problems or have received any updates or resolutions from GM. If anyone from Buick or GMC sees this, please reach out — I’d really like to get this resolved.scjenisland3 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor584Views0likes17CommentsOnstar Module
Hi I’ve purchased a Chevy Equinox LT in March. I’ve been very happy with it until last week(11/20/25). I was trying to start my car on app and was getting an error saying it can’t connect. I made an appointment to coming in. Before was able to get there my car wouldn’t start. I had the car towed to dealer Middletown NJ. They said I need a new Onstar module and it on back order with no ETA.alissatito4 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II146Views0likes7Comments
