Promised EV Remote Access not available
When I bought my 2018 Chevy Bolt in August of this year, I was told I would be able to access my State of Charge for my car remotely using the My Chevy App. I was able to do that for three months while using my free On Star trial and was told by my On Star rep and via messenger with a Chevrolet representative that I’d be able to continue to access SOC even after my subscription expired. When the trial expired, the app no longer shows state of charge. I’ve talked to OnStar, the Chevy EV Concierge, and even my dealer trying to get this fixed. The dealer has submitted all of my vehicle info to OnStar. OnStar refers me to Ev Concierge. The Concierge refers me to the dealer. The dealer refers me back to Onstar! It’s been a huge source of frustration. I don’t want to pay for an Onstar package simply to monitor a most basic and vital component of owning an EV - being able to see how much charge I have. NO ONE seems to be able to resolve this short of trying to sell me something. I’m thinking On Star is just a money grab and GM, being its owner is the same. I love my car but hugely dislike the way I’ve been treated in this situation. I was promised EV Remote access for 5 years and 10 years of Connected Acess (which seems like a way for GM to mine my vehicle data but really not allow me to do anything with the app.). Anyone in a similar situation with a Chevy Bolt. Any suggestions on a solution?2.8KViews0likes5Comments2025 Blazer EV: Telematics Failure, No ETA, and No OTA Updates — What’s Going On at GM?
As an early buyer of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV, I had high hopes. I believed in GM’s vision for the future of electric vehicles. But my ownership experience has been marred by ongoing support issues that I feel compelled to share for the benefit of other EV owners and prospective buyers. Shortly after taking delivery, I discovered that I couldn’t access Tesla’s Supercharger network—something GM advertised as a key convenience—because the required adapter wasn’t available. Even GM itself couldn’t source it for weeks. Eventually, I received one, but only after significant inconvenience and lost travel flexibility. More troubling is the issue I face today: a failed Telematics Control Module, which has disabled my OnStar system and cut off access to over-the-air (OTA) updates. That means my Blazer may not receive important software improvements or even safety-related patches unless I manually bring it into a dealership—something I was told would be handled automatically when I purchased the vehicle. There’s no ETA on the part. The dealership, sympathetic as they are, admitted that many GM parts are backordered and hard to obtain. They even encouraged me and others to reach out to GM directly—something I’ve now done repeatedly. Through it all, my Senior Executive Resolution Liaison, Amira, has been incredibly helpful. She responds promptly, remains professional, and has shown genuine concern for resolving the issue. But even she is hitting brick walls. I truly don’t know how she does her job every day without the tools she needs. Frankly, GM should be paying people like her double. I’ve tried to handle this privately and with patience, but I want to raise awareness among prospective buyers and encourage greater transparency from GM.Dangerous335 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II376Views0likes5CommentsWiFi Hotspot, No Connection to Internet
I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado, bought the thing used awhile back. The WiFi Hotspot has never worked, basically it will allow a device to join but does not actually route to the internet. I have had several other Chevy/GMC trucks where the WiFi/Onstar stuff worked fine, so I know it's possible. I have called onstar several times, today for the forth time to work out this problem. It is always exactly the same thing. Forget the network, leave the truck with the door open for a few minutes, jump through some other hoops. It always ends with, we have to open a ticket for their other support guys and they will call me back to let me know when the problem is fixed. Crickets... NEVER a call back, we have confirmed the call back number every time. From the customer service perspective this is pretty disgusting, make a commitment to a customer and fail to follow up on a service that has been paid for but non-operable. Every time the phone support guys focus on the toggle switch for "Share Hotspot Data" and the fact that it's impossible to toggle on, I'll attach a picture if the forum permits. Anyone know what that does or why it is there? The owners manual says nothing about this toggle. Maybe it's the problem but it makes no sense. Why would anyone want to toggle the ability to route to the Internet (or any other network) if you have already allowed the WiFi connection? Why would you connect in the first place if you didn't intend to go somewhere? Anyway, other network based apps work OK, Pandora, MyGMC, Weather, etc. Some kind of data routing is happening somehow, just not on WiFi. Anyone have any idea how to get WiFi routing to the net? Anyone know what the definition of this toggle switch is? Anyone know how to get past the first line guys and talk to someone who knows something?dilburrito7 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor156KViews9likes41Comments2025 equinox ev- OnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable
I recently bought equinox ev 2025. In 5th month of use, telematics system stopped working. Dealership mentioned that part is nationwide back ordered with no estimated date. And i saw on many portals where same issue has raised by many car owners. Is this normal to have this part back ordered with no estimated date. And if GM knows the problem with this part, why are they selling such cars. Is there a way to raise this concern with any federal department?Meetmerahul12 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor1.2KViews1like25Comments2025 Buick Enclave - Ongoing OnStar / Battery Drain Issue
Hi everyone, I’m posting to see if anyone else has been dealing with the same issue. I have a 2025 Buick Enclave that I purchased brand new about nine months ago. From the start, I’ve had recurring problems with the OnStar system and a total loss of power. The vehicle has repeatedly gone dead or failed to start. The dealer told me it’s related to a defective OnStar (telematics) module that’s been draining the battery and preventing the system from going into sleep mode. My Enclave has now spent over 30 days in the shop, and we’ve had a case open with GM for weeks — but there still isn’t a confirmed fix or part available. We have been enduring these issues while our brand new Enclave sits in the shop, and we have not received answers (from Buick or the dealer) for how it will be resolved. I wanted to share this in case other owners are experiencing similar problems or have received any updates or resolutions from GM. If anyone from Buick or GMC sees this, please reach out — I’d really like to get this resolved.scjenisland12 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor15Views0likes1CommentOnstar Module Needs Replaced
I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali that I had to take in for a dealer for them to tell me the OnStar Module needed replaced. My vehicle is over the 36,000 miles so they quoted me close to $750 to fix it. This $80k truck is only a year and a half old! Mileage should have nothing to do with this part. How is this not something that is covered by GM and/or OnStar? Especially after reading about so many other brand new trucks having this issue.purduecarter14 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II13KViews18likes88CommentsFamily Sharing Isn't Working
I have made numerous attempts to share one of my 3 GMC vehicles with my son. The email is received by him, and when he accepts and gets logged in to the GMC app, he doesn't see the vehicle. I also have noticed that the email invite still shows as pending even though he has accepted the invite and has logged into the GMC app. I contacted support who clearly did not understand the issue and told me to call Onstar support from the vehicle. As an 30 year IT professional myself, I know this is software related and I am hoping an Onstar software engineer could help me skip the level 1 helpdesk scripts and take a peek for me on the back end to see why my vehicle info is not connecting to the email address my son is using.Solvedccrichton752 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor658Views0likes17Comments- Angieblazer3 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor32Views0likes1Comment
CarPlay inoperable with new iPhone 17 Pro and Pro MAX
I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 AT4 with the dramax. I just purchased a brand new iPhone 17 pro a week and a half ago. Since day one when I plug the phone into the USB-C and the USB-A port the phone charges and connects to Apple CarPlay like normal. However after approximately 5-7 minutes the phone disconnects from CarPlay but stays charging. I have tried all ports in the vehicle to include the ones in the center console. All have the same issue. I disconnect the cord and replicate it in and it connects to CarPlay again then quickly disconnects. Yes I am using apple cords, 3 different ones from the Apple Store, and have also tried an aftermarket Anker cord as well (40watts which is what the iPhone requires) I am coming from an iPhone 14 Pro Max and it worked without issues. My wife’s iPhone 14 Pro Max still works without all ports plugged in without issues. My work phone (iPhone 12) works with CarPlay without issues in all ports as well. I have contacted Apple support and send them numerous screenshots and screenshots recordings of the issue and they do not know what’s going on. I have tried the new phone (iPhone 17 Pro) in my wife’s 2021 Subaru Ascent and it works no problem. I truly believe this is just a simple update from GMC or OnStar (whoever is responsible for updating the infotainment center). I have already checked for updates and my truck is currently up to date. Can someone please shed some light on this. Thank you for the help.967Views0likes10CommentsOnStar Module Failure - software recall?
My 2022 Chevy Suburban Z71 OnStar Telematics Module likely failed. I took it into a local dealership in January due to the software recall. I explained to the service department that I had not been able to use the App to access vehicle info, start it remotely, access wifi, etc... since Nov 29, 2024. The service tech told me that the new software update should fix the problem. I had read about the telematics problem and called the service department prior to bringing my car in and the mechanic explained he would take a look at it. When the car was ready, I tried to access use the app and it still did not connect. The tech told me that I likely had to give the software some time to work itself out:). I'm in software and knew this was a load of BS. I asked him to bring the car back into the mechanic and he said I had to make another appointment and come back. So, my question is, what about the lack of access and I am still paying for wifi and OnStar. Can any credit be given retroactively and cancel or put this on hold until the issue is resolved? I am paying for something that is not functional....1.6KViews2likes16Comments
