OnStar Module
I have a 2022 Escalade Sport Platinum and the on star/wifi/app completely stopped working in January 2024. I took the vehicle to my local Cadillac dealership and they told me the OnStar Module has to be replaced and that the part is currently on backorder with no update on when the part will be in. It has been 3 months since the module has stopped working and there has been no update on when I will get this replaced. I do not understand how GM is able to continue build cars with these modules but aren't able to replace them when they go bad. It is an inconvenience having the OnStar option and paying the monthly subscription without having the ability to use it.6.6KViews5likes11CommentsCant install anything from Google playstore on just purchased 2025 GMC Terrain

Another telemetrics module dies with no ETA for replacement. Frankly, after reading all the posts I'm not sure replacing the module with the same module is a great idea given all the posts about this module failing. We have a 2025 Chev Equinox EV. The module failed with less than 5k on the car. I think a huge step forward for GM is to communicate. Is it a design flaw or are we at the point where 4G service isn't viable and they need to upgrade to the 5G chipset? It is my understanding that this current version of module has been in use since 2015. Reading that several posts talk about this module failing multiple times, makes me wonder about airflow and heat around the module. GM needs to communicate with its customers en mass as to what it knows about these failures. What is the percentage of failure? They sold 2.7 million vehicles in 2024, what is the failure rate? Is it a design flaw, heat caused as example? Supply issue? I find this a little hard to believe but maybe its possible. What we don't need is are answers like: "we're sorry you're experiencing this issue."fdalbert7 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II39Views0likes2CommentsOnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable
my 2025 Equinox EV (4000 miles) also has a failed Telematics module (as of 2.1.25) with a "backorder" status and dealer has no idea when it'll be in. Not only does it affect OnStar, but gps/maps/charger near you dont work either. You have to guess and figure it out manually. The car thinks I'm hundreds of miles from where I actually am and doesn't change location. This is unacceptable in any vehicle, but especially an EV which relies on the information to travelrtHoney7 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II1.3KViews4likes29CommentsOnstar Module Needs Replaced
I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali that I had to take in for a dealer for them to tell me the OnStar Module needed replaced. My vehicle is over the 36,000 miles so they quoted me close to $750 to fix it. This $80k truck is only a year and a half old! Mileage should have nothing to do with this part. How is this not something that is covered by GM and/or OnStar? Especially after reading about so many other brand new trucks having this issue.purduecarter7 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II9.2KViews17likes59Comments- 8Views0likes0Comments
myChevrolet app does not update vehicle status
The problem is failure of my myChevrolet app to update vehicle status info for my 2022 Corvette. It worked fine for 2 years and now has not updated vehicle status info for 3 months. Remote commands work on the app but everything else doesn’t update (odometer, Trip A mileage, tire pressures, fuel level percentage and mileage to empty, and oil life percentage all do not work or update. Also, and more importantly, location alerts aren’t working (when arriving at or leaving saved locations) on the app and email and text notifications of vehicle intrusions and attempted thefts are not being sent out via OnStar, like they used to be). I had a conversation with an advisor about the failure to update, and she did a diagnostic check on the car. The diagnostic check updated the Oil Life %, Odometer, and tire pressures for what the car was then showing, but they haven’t updated on subsequent drives. On a subsequent conversation with another advisor, she consulted with tech support and they asked me to send screenshots of what my app was showing. I did that several weeks ago and they have not responded back or done anything. I have deleted and re-installed the app multiple times but that doesn’t fix my problem. I have signed out and signed back in many times. I have power cycled many times. I have cleared the IOS cache and reset the car's computer. I have the newest app version and new IOS device with newest software installed. My OnStar light is green. This appears to be an ongoing problem with many GM vehicles. Why can't GM fix this? The suggested multiple resets, app uninstalls and reinstalls, etc., aren't working. It appears to be a software glitch that should be easily identified and corrected.76Views0likes1CommentONSTAR Module
Hello Advisor_Helen Thank you for your email. Unfortunately I do not own a YUKON. I do however own a 2012 Chevy Equinox and I have been having problems with the OnStar Module since June of 2024. I recently had it replaced by GMC dealership here in Canada but it is still not working 100% thus making my CHEVY APP non functional too. I have spent over a $1,000 (parts and labour) plus countless hours on the phone with OnStar support and technicians and they have still been unable to resolve the problem and always telling me they empathize with my situation and that my issue has been escalated to other technicians. In hindsight I think I should have simply thrown in the towel instead of trying to get it fixed. I have never been so frustrated in dealing with OnStar as I have been these past 12 months. Sincerely BWZ Alberta Canada20Views0likes0CommentsAp Connectivity
Just came home with a brand new 2025 escalade and none of the apps work. Spent over an hour on the phone with OnStar only to be told that they need to escalate the problem to a higher level - and then it probably be three business days before I even hear back. Very frustrated with this new purchase.17Views0likes2CommentsOnStar Module Broke
Brought my 2023 Yukon XL with 38K miles in to fix a recall and when I got it back now my “telematic control module/OnStar module” is broken and needs to be replaced. Dealer is telling me it will cost $900 and they have no idea when the part would even be in? This is ridiculous, not only should I not have to pay for this, but it shouldn’t have broke and if it needs fixing it should be done immediately.jmarinelli004 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor1.4KViews4likes23Comments
