OnStar Module Failure - software recall?
My 2022 Chevy Suburban Z71 OnStar Telematics Module likely failed. I took it into a local dealership in January due to the software recall. I explained to the service department that I had not been able to use the App to access vehicle info, start it remotely, access wifi, etc... since Nov 29, 2024. The service tech told me that the new software update should fix the problem. I had read about the telematics problem and called the service department prior to bringing my car in and the mechanic explained he would take a look at it. When the car was ready, I tried to access use the app and it still did not connect. The tech told me that I likely had to give the software some time to work itself out:). I'm in software and knew this was a load of BS. I asked him to bring the car back into the mechanic and he said I had to make another appointment and come back. So, my question is, what about the lack of access and I am still paying for wifi and OnStar. Can any credit be given retroactively and cancel or put this on hold until the issue is resolved? I am paying for something that is not functional....1.6KViews2likes17CommentsOnstar light red 2024 Trax RS
I’ve been to a Chevy dealer 8 times in the last 2 months. I’ve had my radio replaced. Everything reprogrammed and now the Onstar module was replaced 2 days ago. Today I’m having the problem again. It’s more consistent now. No wifi. What am I paying this monthly fee for?2Views0likes0CommentsOnStar Red Light
I have a 2025 GMC Hummer Ev and for over 2 months I constantly keep getting a Emergency Call notification and the OnStar Button is red instead of green. I can dismiss the notification on the dash but I cannot figure out how to fix the OnStar button from constantly turning red. I have taken my vehicle in to the dealership for this issue on 3 separate appointment/occasions. I was informed the could not find the issue nor any code. I have provided them videos of the occurances as well as taken it in when it happened. They have identified the code, but the tech stated he has to do research to figure out the code. He has yet to identify (research) the code in an effort to address the issue. I have no idea what the issue is as well as the lack of safety features I currently do not have. Kind of a concerning issue for me and more so my family.mr_latson10 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor178Views0likes3CommentsCarPlay inoperable with new iPhone 17 Pro and Pro MAX
I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 AT4 with the dramax. I just purchased a brand new iPhone 17 pro a week and a half ago. Since day one when I plug the phone into the USB-C and the USB-A port the phone charges and connects to Apple CarPlay like normal. However after approximately 5-7 minutes the phone disconnects from CarPlay but stays charging. I have tried all ports in the vehicle to include the ones in the center console. All have the same issue. I disconnect the cord and replicate it in and it connects to CarPlay again then quickly disconnects. Yes I am using apple cords, 3 different ones from the Apple Store, and have also tried an aftermarket Anker cord as well (40watts which is what the iPhone requires) I am coming from an iPhone 14 Pro Max and it worked without issues. My wife’s iPhone 14 Pro Max still works without all ports plugged in without issues. My work phone (iPhone 12) works with CarPlay without issues in all ports as well. I have contacted Apple support and send them numerous screenshots and screenshots recordings of the issue and they do not know what’s going on. I have tried the new phone (iPhone 17 Pro) in my wife’s 2021 Subaru Ascent and it works no problem. I truly believe this is just a simple update from GMC or OnStar (whoever is responsible for updating the infotainment center). I have already checked for updates and my truck is currently up to date. Can someone please shed some light on this. Thank you for the help.1.2KViews0likes11Comments2025 equinox ev- OnStar Telematics module - no dates for backorder part is unacceptable
I recently bought equinox ev 2025. In 5th month of use, telematics system stopped working. Dealership mentioned that part is nationwide back ordered with no estimated date. And i saw on many portals where same issue has raised by many car owners. Is this normal to have this part back ordered with no estimated date. And if GM knows the problem with this part, why are they selling such cars. Is there a way to raise this concern with any federal department?Meetmerahul15 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor1.2KViews2likes29CommentsRecall/Class Action on Onstar Module ??
I join the many who have to have their Onstar module replaced. 2023 Yukon. No ETA from GMC on this backordered part. Time for a recall and/or Class Action! I cannot believe the number of people with the same issue! Has anyone's module come in yet?1.8KViews8likes41Commentsonstar module
Onstar will not connect. 2025 Equinox purchased in late Jan. 2025 brought to dealer after contacting onstar and was told the module was out. Have joined the onstar community forum and am appalled at the number of issues reported without any result or resolution. This is absolutely unacceptable. GM should be ashamed of themselves. They are putting modules in vehicles being produced but cannot get one for a vehicle already sold. Am considering on changing brands, have always bought GM but am not pleased with the response for this issue. Also found out they now want to start charging for google maps, greed, greed, greed. SHAMEFULL!!! Please assist. Navigation doesn't work because the vehicle doesn't know where it is, outgoing phone calls doesn't work either. Very unhappy!! So far onstar support has done nothing but pass the buck and tell me to contact someonelse.larrybirk121 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor9Views0likes1Comment2025 Envision vehicle status has not updated for 3 months

Hi everyone, I’m posting to see if anyone else has been dealing with the same issue. I have a 2025 Buick Enclave that I purchased brand new about nine months ago. From the start, I’ve had recurring problems with the OnStar system and a total loss of power. The vehicle has repeatedly gone dead or failed to start. The dealer told me it’s related to a defective OnStar (telematics) module that’s been draining the battery and preventing the system from going into sleep mode. My Enclave has now spent over 30 days in the shop, and we’ve had a case open with GM for weeks — but there still isn’t a confirmed fix or part available. We have been enduring these issues while our brand new Enclave sits in the shop, and we have not received answers (from Buick or the dealer) for how it will be resolved. I wanted to share this in case other owners are experiencing similar problems or have received any updates or resolutions from GM. If anyone from Buick or GMC sees this, please reach out — I’d really like to get this resolved.scjenisland2 days agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor55Views0likes4CommentsBrand New Equinox EV with dead telematics module
We purchased a new Equinox EV at the end of April and within 1500 miles the navigation, onstar connectivity, and wifi hotspot went out. After 3 calls and no help at all from OnStar we made an appointment with the Chevy dealer who confirmed it was a faulty telematics module (I was not surprised from what I’ve read). The part is on back order with no timetable for repair. Obviously this is also par for the course from what I’m reading. What I am very troubled by is that GM has removed Apple CarPlay for their vehicles and forces you into their system for navigation and it fails almost immediately with no estimate as to when it’s repaired. I was willing to overlook no CarPlay, I was willing to accept these features behind a paywall, but I’m more than perturbed that they put these features behind a paywall and they don’t work. This is the first GM product I’ve purchased in over 20 years and if this speaks to their quality it will be the last.190Views1like5Comments
