2025 Blazer EV: Telematics Failure, No ETA, and No OTA Updates — What’s Going On at GM?
As an early buyer of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV, I had high hopes. I believed in GM’s vision for the future of electric vehicles. But my ownership experience has been marred by ongoing support issues that I feel compelled to share for the benefit of other EV owners and prospective buyers. Shortly after taking delivery, I discovered that I couldn’t access Tesla’s Supercharger network—something GM advertised as a key convenience—because the required adapter wasn’t available. Even GM itself couldn’t source it for weeks. Eventually, I received one, but only after significant inconvenience and lost travel flexibility. More troubling is the issue I face today: a failed Telematics Control Module, which has disabled my OnStar system and cut off access to over-the-air (OTA) updates. That means my Blazer may not receive important software improvements or even safety-related patches unless I manually bring it into a dealership—something I was told would be handled automatically when I purchased the vehicle. There’s no ETA on the part. The dealership, sympathetic as they are, admitted that many GM parts are backordered and hard to obtain. They even encouraged me and others to reach out to GM directly—something I’ve now done repeatedly. Through it all, my Senior Executive Resolution Liaison, Amira, has been incredibly helpful. She responds promptly, remains professional, and has shown genuine concern for resolving the issue. But even she is hitting brick walls. I truly don’t know how she does her job every day without the tools she needs. Frankly, GM should be paying people like her double. I’ve tried to handle this privately and with patience, but I want to raise awareness among prospective buyers and encourage greater transparency from GM.Dangerous3330 minutes agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor41Views0likes2Comments2025 chevy malibu rs not getting updates on mychevy app

I recently bought 2025 Chevy EV Equinox and my GPS stopped working. Nothing works cannot call onstar, no connectivity cannot plan routes or find charging locations. It was hard to take it to dealership since no one wants to look at these kind of issues. Now they say that the onstar module needs to be replaced and it’s been back ordered. First time buying a GM vehicle and probably would be the last time. Dealers dont care and say it might even take longer and my lease might end before part arrives.4Views0likes0CommentsOnstar telematic communication module Defective.
My brand new 2025 Silverado EV has been sitting at the dealership for close to a Month now. I need someone to give me my money back for an 80k truck I can’t use. We definitely need a class action lawsuit for this shenanigans. Obviously R&D seems to sucks at this company.83Views0likes4CommentsOnStar Telematics module fixed - yay
I’ve not followed every thread on this topic here because now there are so many to keep up with. But in one I did read about someone whose part arrived and the repair was successful. Thought I’d share my experience as well because knowing some were having success helped my sanity 😊 – even if not my patience. 2023 Denali. Got my Telematics module replaced last week. The old one died December 19, 2024 after the software upgrade. It’s not my daily driver so I didn’t notice for a month. Two months later part arrived. Unlike many here, my mileage is very low so warranty covered my repair. On the warranty ticket the repair came to $600. $312 was 1.6 hours of labor. That’s $195/hr – holy cow. Granted the canned responses here don’t seem very helpful at first glance but I took their suggestion and established contact with the team here. They responded often with updates but since they don’t have the power to control inventory, they can’t really expedite anything – at least I assume they can’t. In my case though – once the part was delivered to the dealer – I heard from the OnStar team here first. Went to the dealer and said there’s a rumor that my part has arrived. They hunted around on their terminal for a few minutes and then agreed it was present. Stating that no one told them. Probably the OnStar team was communicating with the parts dept and not the service advisors. In my case I happened to come across solid evidence that the software update killed the unit. Unlike some here, I didn't notice on the ride home after the upgrade that anything was broken. I was looking at the GMC app later because I realized I’d not gotten a monthly email status report on the truck. When I checked the map page, it showed the last time my truck was “seen” was “2 months ago”, AT the dealer. The date I noticed that was mid-February – 2 months after the “update”. Mid-morning on "repair day" I thought about the app again and fired it up. Showed the truck at the dealer and was “seen” 44 minutes ago. That told me the repair was successful 😊. I’ve got a 2023 so that means I paid up front for 3 years. When I called OnStar from the truck to confirm everything looked good on their end I ended up talking to tech support for something unrelated to the repair. It was then I asked if I could get my subscription extended for 3 months since it stopped working mid-December after the update. They had to converse with a supervisor for a few minutes but no other questions were asked - they agreed to the extension. Maybe they already had the evidence I'd share with the team here in February. Such as life with so much tech in vehicles these days. I had assumed my 2023 had a version of the hardware that the new software was not compatible with. I've seen scenarios like that before. But when people here with 2024's started reporting the same, that kind of kills that theory. Sounds kind-of like a BIOS update for a PC where it fails for some reason, rendering the PC useless. Then, unlike modern PC's the OnStar unit can't just be reprogrammed with a new "BIOS". It's just dead - because it's a 3rd party piece of hardware and they never expected this kind of failure. Thanks again to the team here for giving us a place to share our stories and know that we're not alone. Thanks also for keeping me updated along the way. Now I've got to come up with a pre-flight checklist to keep in the truck that I can go over after every "oil change" !247Views2likes2CommentsWiFi Hotspot - No Internet
I have a 2025 Tahoe with a OnStar One Super Cruise Plan with Connected Plus Unlimited Data Plan. My head unit and Rear Seat Entertainment all have data. However, when you connect a phone or tablet to the in-vehicle hot spot I get no data. The connected devices complain there is no Internet on the hot spot. Any ideas? I have seen similar complaints on Reddit for these 2025 GM vehicles.JWPappas23 hours agoPlace Technical and Service SupportTechnical and Service SupportNew Contributor II455Views2likes16CommentsCannot accept User Terms for Connected Vehicles

My 2023 Acadia GMC App will not update. I have tried all the recommendations from other threads about this. The rest of the APP works as advertised. Please help me resolve this issue as I would like to see my current fuel level, oil life, tire pressure, etc.31Views0likes4Comments- 9Views0likes1Comment
