2025 Blazer EV: Telematics Failure, No ETA, and No OTA Updates — What’s Going On at GM?
As an early buyer of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV, I had high hopes. I believed in GM’s vision for the future of electric vehicles. But my ownership experience has been marred by ongoing support issues that I feel compelled to share for the benefit of other EV owners and prospective buyers. Shortly after taking delivery, I discovered that I couldn’t access Tesla’s Supercharger network—something GM advertised as a key convenience—because the required adapter wasn’t available. Even GM itself couldn’t source it for weeks. Eventually, I received one, but only after significant inconvenience and lost travel flexibility. More troubling is the issue I face today: a failed Telematics Control Module, which has disabled my OnStar system and cut off access to over-the-air (OTA) updates. That means my Blazer may not receive important software improvements or even safety-related patches unless I manually bring it into a dealership—something I was told would be handled automatically when I purchased the vehicle. There’s no ETA on the part. The dealership, sympathetic as they are, admitted that many GM parts are backordered and hard to obtain. They even encouraged me and others to reach out to GM directly—something I’ve now done repeatedly. Through it all, my Senior Executive Resolution Liaison, Amira, has been incredibly helpful. She responds promptly, remains professional, and has shown genuine concern for resolving the issue. But even she is hitting brick walls. I truly don’t know how she does her job every day without the tools she needs. Frankly, GM should be paying people like her double. I’ve tried to handle this privately and with patience, but I want to raise awareness among prospective buyers and encourage greater transparency from GM.0likes0CommentsVehicles Status won't update
My 2023 Acadia GMC App will not update. I have tried all the recommendations from other threads about this. The rest of the APP works as advertised. Please help me resolve this issue as I would like to see my current fuel level, oil life, tire pressure, etc.0likes1CommentOn-Star Telmetric Module Failed
I bought my 2023 Chevy Tahoe brand new in 2022. On-star Module Failed a week ago. Dealership said my extended warranty did not cover it. Part is back-ordered with no ETA. They made me pay for the part before they'd even order it. From what I've read this is a widespread problem that chevy and on-star have known about. I very angry because the whole reason I bought this car was for the entertainment package that no longer works. From also what I've read it could be months before it comes in if it comes in at all. Something needs to be done.1like8CommentsHow to report Super Cruise map errors?
Hello. I am new here and hoping you can help me. I recently got a 2025 GMC Yukon with Super Cruise. It has generally been working well with the exception of a stretch of highway 23 between Sheboygan, WI and Fond du Lac, WI. That stretch of highway went through a major rebuild a couple of years ago, but it is all completed now. However, I think the maps that are referenced for Super Cruise do not reflect the current road conditions. That highway is divided 4 lanes (2 in each direction) and practically new. When I am headed East from Fond Du Lac, and engage Super Cruise, it ALWAYS says it detects road construction. It shuts off at times saying it does not have road references, when everything is clear and well marked. It is VERY strange because there is no construction, the roads are clear, and the painted stripes are practically new and extremely well marked. Super Cruise acts like the road is still under construction, but that has long since been completed. How can you report this to have a system engineer review the map references to ensure everything is up-to-date? I had an exceptionally frustrating call tonight on my drive home when I engaged OnStar, explained to the rep I wanted to report some discrepancies and ask that section of highway be reported to the Super Cruise Team to review. The representative put me on hold for 20 minutes (BTW - the On-Star on-hold system is exceptionally annoying... repeating the same thing over and over with a loud ding every minute... I was going insane... reminded me of being back in the 90's!), then a new rep came on the call and started the process over saying someone transferred the call to him, then he put me on hold for 15 minutes, came back and said he had to transfer my call, started over with another rep, same thing... only to come back on and explain there was nothing they could do! And that I needed to take the car to the dealership! OnStar proved to be a complete waste to me tonight and very frustrating... represented themselves as an old tech system that is getting outpaced by others! I would cancel my OnStar subscription if I could, but my car is a company vehicle and I can't. I am not an idiot and tech savvy. I know there is not a problem with my vehicle as the system works well on other roads and consistently does the same thing at the exact same locations every time. The problem is with the map references which are out of date for that section of highway and I simply want someone to look at it and see if it can be updated. My guess is that a good system engineer will have it resolved in minutes. Or if the problem is with the accuracy coming from a government agency maintaining the mapping information, GM could at least report it and ask that it be reviewed. I make this drive every day and if I am dealing with this for the next couple of years I will be exceptionally frustrated. All that said, I am impressed with Super Cruise. I also have a Rivian and enjoy the Highway Assist Technology they employ. Super Cruise is on-par if not better, especially with automatically changing lanes to move around slower vehicles. However, their service techs when you call for assistance (their version of OnStar) are head and shoulders better than what I experienced tonight. Please help to restore some confidence for me by advising how I can report this section of highway to have it reviewed and hopefully updated. Thank you for listening! 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Carbon Pro Bought with 10,000 miles. Have had it in service multiple times. Now the onstar module is out and has been for over 3 months. Dealership said it is on backorder. I bought this truck because it had the functions I need in order to drive safely as I have some disabilities. I am paying for a truck that most of the reasons I purchased the vehicle do not function. I am very disappointed in the level of service GMC has provided to their customers. What is the solution for this issue? Do customers receive any compensation for all of the time they are waiting for a new part? This is a safety issue for customers. I would think GMC would make this a high priority and let customers know the ETA to receive a new part, etc. This isn't the only problem I have had with my vehicle and it is very frustrating and disappointing. I am paying for a product that repeatedly has to go to the dealership for service and some of the most important features so not work and it affects my driving as well as my safety.9likes29Comments23 Sierra AT4
I believe my OnStar module is out. Strange thing though, it didn't seem like everything stopped working all at once. About a month ago, I noticed I wasn't able to start/lock/unlock the vehicle through the app, and it wasn't updating the vehicle information like gas/oil life, etc. Then it was maps and the compass. Now nothing works, including the OnStar button. I was in for a recall earlier this year that had something to do with the telematics module - does that ring a bell for anyone else? Are these issues connected?0likes2CommentsNeeded upgrades
One lane change automatic lane change is way too aggressive and create a weaving in and out feeling. Two if I’m passing traffic that’s going 35 may be locked up in traffic and there’s an open lane that I’m in with speed limits of 65. The car will race up to 65 in a dangerous manner Which doesn’t feel safe since the other lanes are still in a traffic gridlock.0likes1CommentTelematic Control Module needs replacement, but backordered with no ETA?! UNACCEPTABLE
My 2024 Equinox EV 2RS (Purchased brand new in November '24, only 1,568 miles on to-date) is now in the dealership for the third time due to what was thought to be a 12v battery problem. Turns out, it was a faulty Telematic Control Module that needs replacing, and the dealership that's working on it says GM has no timetable/ETA for the part?! The amount of posts on here reflecting how frequently this is happening should make GM want to have THOUSANDS of these parts on hand for immediate deployment, not arbitrarily informing dealerships, "There's no ETA." I'm a new mom and back to work for the first time since giving birth in October, and being unable to count on a vehicle to simply work is beyond defeating.5likes44CommentsOn Star module broken
I ahve a 2023 Chevy Tahoe RST and the on star module has failed. There has been no connection since 8/31/24. The dealer has said it is on backorder and no ETA when a new part will arrive. Has anyone even had their on star module replaced if having similar issue? This is very concerning and upsetting as I pay for the subscription and have also paid an annual subscription for wifi that doesn't work. The clocks in my vehicle are all off and am not getting full functionality of the vehicle I paid top dollar for. The car wouldn't start a week ago because it was sending low voltage signals to every system because of the faulty module. Luckily the dealer got it operational again but said they can't just disconnect it because that would cause too many issues. Very very frustrated here....20likes66Comments
