Onstar in my brand new 2025 Chevrolet Traverse LT is not working even though the light is green.
My OnStar stopped working 6 days ago! I called OnStar support since this is the 3rd time this happens! The first time they were able to trouble shoot the second time it fixed itself. Now this is the 3rd time and the OnStar button is green. I called and they told me the signal was not being received by my vehicle. They tried for over an hour. Even had me go into settings which didn’t work. Now they say I have to go to the dealership to see if they can figure it out! They said my unit might need to be replaced but how!! It’s a brand new vehicle got it with 3 miles on it!1like25CommentsOnStar Module Broke
Brought my 2023 Yukon XL with 38K miles in to fix a recall and when I got it back now my “telematic control module/OnStar module” is broken and needs to be replaced. Dealer is telling me it will cost $900 and they have no idea when the part would even be in? This is ridiculous, not only should I not have to pay for this, but it shouldn’t have broke and if it needs fixing it should be done immediately.5likes48CommentsOnStar Module Failure - software recall?
My 2022 Chevy Suburban Z71 OnStar Telematics Module likely failed. I took it into a local dealership in January due to the software recall. I explained to the service department that I had not been able to use the App to access vehicle info, start it remotely, access wifi, etc... since Nov 29, 2024. The service tech told me that the new software update should fix the problem. I had read about the telematics problem and called the service department prior to bringing my car in and the mechanic explained he would take a look at it. When the car was ready, I tried to access use the app and it still did not connect. The tech told me that I likely had to give the software some time to work itself out:). I'm in software and knew this was a load of BS. I asked him to bring the car back into the mechanic and he said I had to make another appointment and come back. So, my question is, what about the lack of access and I am still paying for wifi and OnStar. Can any credit be given retroactively and cancel or put this on hold until the issue is resolved? I am paying for something that is not functional....2likes19CommentsUnable to install Google Play store apps
I purchased a 2025 Blazer EV SS 3 days ago and cannot load apps. I have called in 3 times and been told this is due to a nation wide outage. I read through comments on the forum and see this issue has a history. Please help me resolve this issue, it is very disappointing on a new vehicle.0likes1CommentTelematic Control Module needs replacement, but backordered with no ETA?! UNACCEPTABLE
My 2024 Equinox EV 2RS (Purchased brand new in November '24, only 1,568 miles on to-date) is now in the dealership for the third time due to what was thought to be a 12v battery problem. Turns out, it was a faulty Telematic Control Module that needs replacing, and the dealership that's working on it says GM has no timetable/ETA for the part?! The amount of posts on here reflecting how frequently this is happening should make GM want to have THOUSANDS of these parts on hand for immediate deployment, not arbitrarily informing dealerships, "There's no ETA." I'm a new mom and back to work for the first time since giving birth in October, and being unable to count on a vehicle to simply work is beyond defeating.6likes55CommentsRecall/Class Action on Onstar Module ??
I join the many who have to have their Onstar module replaced. 2023 Yukon. No ETA from GMC on this backordered part. Time for a recall and/or Class Action! I cannot believe the number of people with the same issue! Has anyone's module come in yet?8likes47Comments2025 Blazer EV: Telematics Failure, No ETA, and No OTA Updates — What’s Going On at GM?
As an early buyer of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV, I had high hopes. I believed in GM’s vision for the future of electric vehicles. But my ownership experience has been marred by ongoing support issues that I feel compelled to share for the benefit of other EV owners and prospective buyers. Shortly after taking delivery, I discovered that I couldn’t access Tesla’s Supercharger network—something GM advertised as a key convenience—because the required adapter wasn’t available. Even GM itself couldn’t source it for weeks. Eventually, I received one, but only after significant inconvenience and lost travel flexibility. More troubling is the issue I face today: a failed Telematics Control Module, which has disabled my OnStar system and cut off access to over-the-air (OTA) updates. That means my Blazer may not receive important software improvements or even safety-related patches unless I manually bring it into a dealership—something I was told would be handled automatically when I purchased the vehicle. There’s no ETA on the part. The dealership, sympathetic as they are, admitted that many GM parts are backordered and hard to obtain. They even encouraged me and others to reach out to GM directly—something I’ve now done repeatedly. Through it all, my Senior Executive Resolution Liaison, Amira, has been incredibly helpful. She responds promptly, remains professional, and has shown genuine concern for resolving the issue. But even she is hitting brick walls. I truly don’t know how she does her job every day without the tools she needs. Frankly, GM should be paying people like her double. I’ve tried to handle this privately and with patience, but I want to raise awareness among prospective buyers and encourage greater transparency from GM.0likes16Comments21 Camaro ZL1 OnStar Module Failure.. Self Replace?
Hello! The OnStar module in my 2021 Camaro ZL1 seems to have died. The buttons and lights on the overhead console for OnStar no longer work. The gauge cluster compass stopped working as well, my GPS shows a red circle with a slash through it on my infotainment center, and I can no longer connect to my car/start/stop/etc from the phone app. I ran a code scanner on my car and found 2 codes: U0198 - Lost communication with telematic control module U183A - Lost communication with telematics communication interface control module on high speed CAN Bus. I purchased a replacement OnStar/Telematics module and can easily swap it out without letting a dealer tech damage the interior of my car but need to know if I can just bring the module to the dealership for programming to my vehicle or if I need to install it and bring my car up and have them program it once installed or if OnStar themselves can update my account with the info on the new module box? Does anyone have any idea? Trying not to get scammed by the dealer wanting me to jump through 50 hoops and get hit with bogus "diagnostic" fees and other BS. Thank you!0likes2Commentsonstar module
Onstar will not connect. 2025 Equinox purchased in late Jan. 2025 brought to dealer after contacting onstar and was told the module was out. Have joined the onstar community forum and am appalled at the number of issues reported without any result or resolution. This is absolutely unacceptable. GM should be ashamed of themselves. They are putting modules in vehicles being produced but cannot get one for a vehicle already sold. Am considering on changing brands, have always bought GM but am not pleased with the response for this issue. Also found out they now want to start charging for google maps, greed, greed, greed. SHAMEFULL!!! Please assist. Navigation doesn't work because the vehicle doesn't know where it is, outgoing phone calls doesn't work either. Very unhappy!! So far onstar support has done nothing but pass the buck and tell me to contact someonelse.0likes3CommentsOnStar Module Failure
I, like apparently 1,000's of others have had my OnStar module fail. I took my purchased new, regularly dealer serviced 2023 GMC Yukon Denali in for a simple oil change and tire rotation as usual at the 45,000 mile mark. While I was returning home, I found I had no navigation, WiFi, voice activation, phone start, etc. After contacting OnStar support, they told me it seemed to be a hardware failure. The speed with which they were able to diagnose this over the phone led me to believe this was a common thing. Based on this message board, it seems so common that it's hard to believe that a recall hasn't been issued. This is blatantly bad part. I've also since learned after returning to the dealership that I'm on the hook for $800+ in repairs with no idea when the part will be available. Now, I've got a nearly $100k truck that doesn't do half of the things I paid for. This is a ridiculous issue that GM & OnStar need to correct. How can there be 1,000's of people out there with the same issue and no desire by the manufacturer to make amends or at least have the parts readily available when these things inevitably fail?4likes14Comments
