Defective OnStar Module in 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X — Sold in Non-Working Condition
I’m reaching out because my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X was sold to me with a non-functional OnStar telecommunications module. OnStar has never connected or worked properly since I purchased the vehicle — the system constantly shows SOS or connection errors.
I repeatedly contacted the dealership that sold me the truck, but they stopped responding entirely. I then took the vehicle to another authorized GMC dealership in town, and they confirmed that the OnStar module itself is defective.
They informed me that I would need to pay $200 just for a diagnostic fee and then $600 for the module replacement, even though the system has never worked since purchase.
This is a factory-installed feature that should have been operational at delivery. I’m requesting OnStar and GM’s assistance in getting this issue resolved properly, without being charged for a defect that existed before I ever took ownership.

Good luck with getting any assistance. Go through theI GM executive team. mary.barra@gm.com. That is the only way you will get help. I purchased a brand new 2025 with a defective Module. Took them 5 months to listen to me. Then they only listened because a GM executive contacted them. Had it replaced one week ago today. This morning it stopped working again. Just filled out the lemon law form.
