Backordered Onstar Module
Has anyone who is faced with this backordered onstar module situation considered the lemon law?

I just bought a 2025 Equinox EV. Never thought to check the OnStar button. The dealership said the module needs to be replaced, but it's on backorder. I can only use 70% of my car! I had a GM vehicle once in the past and it was the biggest piece of junk I had ever owned. I vowed I would never buy another GM vehicle again, but I went against by gut and bought a chevy and here we go again!
If GM takes away the ability for apple carplay and anroid auto, they need to make sure their software is seamless. So far, I can't even use it.. it's useless!!!! If I get in an accident because I am forced to look at the GPS on my phone because my screen won't work, that sounds like a lawsuit to me! You think GM would be so quick to fix this issue since they can be legally responsible for injury or death for forcing people to use a mobile device, which it is illegal in many states. The only way i see GM making this right is by providing a loaner until my car is fixed or never making me pay for OnStar or the stupid wifi to make the car work.I am so disappointed!

I agree fully with you. Class action to be brought upon this issue. I have a 2023 Buick envision also with onstar mod out after update. 1st after update the car wouldn’t shut all the way off had I not noticed it would have killed battery. Had to disconnect battery and was ok for little while. Then onstar shut down completely. Way before warranty went out onstar would drop periodically and I had no idea what was going on. I thought maybe satellite issue but now I know it was not that. I even have Sirius XM station I pay for not able to connect due to the onstar problem. I can’t even press the blue button it’s completely dead. Deal says not safety issue. Says luxury, how is this not safety as onstar can not send help if an accident happens. It’s just wrong on every level. I’ve spoke with o star already and they just refer me to dealership. There is a customer service bulletin for 2024-2026 models not sure off hand which GM vehicles but mine is not. Why are all the others not included when we have the same problem. Total junk. I’d trade car in if every time you buy a vehicle the minute you leave with it you owe more than it’s worth. Sad sad sad how they have the small person trapped. All about money.

Mine has been sitting in the shop for six weeks now, and I am ready to lose my mind over this- barely 4000 miles on it, and I cant even drive the thing because they pulled my car completely apart. No idea when it will be fixed, and getting the dealership to call me back when I call to check on it is like pulling teeth. This is ridiculous, and I am considering pursing lemon law against it. OnStar should, at they very least offer everyone free subscriptions for the broadband and their services for a year to make up for this garbage. I regret buying this car.

2022 GMC Sierra 1500 elevation with 113000 km. Dealer installed a new software update for the gateway module and now my onstar module is fried. GM Canada is refusing to cover the 175 dollar diagnostics cost at the dealer. I will be going to the media about this, as this is an extremely common problem GM should be rectifying.

I have been waiting 10 weeks. Stopped working January 31, 2026, brought it in to the dealer February 16. Just called. All I am being told is that it is on backorder. I bought the car new in March 2025. Had around 4,000 miles on it at the time this happened. About ready to take a hit to my credit and stop paying for it.

The most insulting part of this situation is GM knows this problem exists but continues to sell/lease cars with the potential for this to happen and has absolutely zero remorse for their actions. Someone needs to hold GM accountable for this and not now but yesterday. I continue to pay for 100% of a car when only 75% of the car is functional. That’s stealing plain and simple and it’s compounded by the fact that GM had full knowledge of this issue but like 🙈🙉🙊 they blatantly ignored it.
